Took the bike in to a main dealer for a service and mot and it didn't even get a wash. I only went to them because they are a Kawasaki dealer, they could do the mot, and they did the last service.

I think I shall be taking it to my local independant from now on. He is very friendly, likes a chat and washed the bike when I took it in for a new chain and sprocket.

Is a quick wash too much to ask? (especially when you've spent around £200)

In my experience...although it`s nice to get a nice service like a wash, coffee & a chat etc as the machine is getting fettled...In the summer, bike shops servicing depts are very busy with everybody wanting something done ..yesterday...

As a car owner, I always wash, wax, clean inside and spray the tyres black again the night before it goes in for a service, I wouldnt expect the dealer to do it for me!

When I was a car owner, it used to get it's annual wash at the MOT centre.

I get embarrassed taking the bike in with a weeks worth of crud on it tho. smile

Thats not really that uncommon. Main dealers are about fast turn around ! If you want good old proper close attention to detail, that chat with the guy that did the work over a coffee then you need to develop a relationship with a local indie or specialist tuning shop.

My dealer was keen to tell me that one of the plastic "things" holding the fairing on was missing. Didn't even think about popping another one in for me...they must have loads of these lying around.

my wife Honda comes back very clean inside and out after a service, but like others have said I clean my bike before its service. I say that and I will have my first service since becoming a biker tomorrow and a MOT

No the CSL was cheaper than that. Sadly the 1200 was on the duc.

The CSL is fantastic - love it to bits. Here's a pic of it in action for you (as if I needed an excuse to post a pic wink):

You have to have your towing eye in on car trackdays - makes it quicker for them to drag you back on the track if you leave it.

It's just a massive air intake!

You're spoilt... try a Triumph dealer.

Last time I dropped the bike in to have 3 bits of work done and I was told it was ready for collection. £380.

Bike was scuffed on the fairings (well, you brought it in a van was the excuse - no i didn't)
2 of the requested bits of work hadn't been done
28psi in the front tyre and 25 in the rear (bike had been sitting for 6 months)
No lube on chain etc etc

I HATE Triumph dealers - they're all as bad each other. In fact that lot above are the best I've found.

In a conundrum as I fancy a Speed Triple but am damned if I am going to let any of the stealers I have dealt with get the sale from me.

When I had the Alfa serviced - always came back cleaned and vacuumed. When I had the TVR serviced, can back Autoglymed - never had it looked so good.

I've not serviced a bike yet - I seem to be of the 'chuck it under a black corsa and buy another' school of thought...

To be fair, you don't know what the bucket and sponge they'd use on your bike were last used to wash: could have been the works van after that trials weekend...

Once, I'd cleaned and polished my old Clio and it absolutely gleamed. I took it in for a service a couple of days later and they did a complimentary "service wash". I use that term loosely as it actually involved a poorly trained monkey and a bucket of muddy water! The gleaming car came out streaked!!

Never had a bike cleaned during a service, though.
