Anyone know if this is actually going into production and, if so, when?

It's ready to roll and should be in dealers any day now! My mate's upgrading from a Superduke to get one and it should be with him this month. It looks pretty tasty I must say.

Nah, he's probably thinking of the SuperMoto. The Superduke is more of a Monster/Tuono/Speed Triple competitor. The Supermoto is a supermoto with a 950 (or 990, I forget) engine in it.

Oh, ok! It looked exactly the same as the picture though. Had the cut outs in the front guard, and the folding mirrors, the lot. Maybe I'm getting old, cause they all look the same to me these days!!

Ha ha ha! OK - you may be right! I'll wait until I've had the chance to ride the Hypermotard first though! I was seriously considering buying my mate's Superduke and took it for a ride, but was quite disappointed as it wasn't the beast I was expecting. frown

I got straight back onto my Z1000 after the Superduke and was grinning like a loon straight away - it just felt smaller, livelier and much much naughtier. Still, saved me a few bob as I won't be selling the Z1000 just yet! smile

There's a test in this month's T.W.O. on the hypermotard vs the ktm 950sm vs the weird Buell thing on roads and on a hillclimb.

Summary:
Buell - odd and useless most of the time
Ducati - whole heap of fun, moderately useable but let down by awkward low speed manners and limited comfort (and stupid wing mirrors)
KTM - utterly rampantly barking, easy to get on with, best road manners.

Winner: KTM

Well that's not surprising as Buell don't make anything that could be even realistically compared to the other two bikes......confused

So, sounds like a case of 'let's do a comparison test between these two, but we need an obvious booby prize so let's pick that'...rolleyes

They do the Lightning XB12STT - Buell marketing says: Blending the hard core attitude of a streetfighter with the agility and style of supermoto, this defiant urban assault machine is the ultimate in moto self expression
