If painintg a helmet is so expensive......
Discussion
why can you not use the same method as graphics on race cars i.e. laser-cut vinyl?
I'm in the middle of my DAS so excuse my newbie-related inexperience to matters bike/equipment related and bear with me!
I bought an Arai Condor today, in black (I heard something about black being the fastest colour?
), but what I would like is a replica of Rolfo's helmet, the day-glo orange/yellow stripes. They sales guy said having a helmet painted would run me a couple of hundred quid, which is fair enough, but surely having the same design done with stick-on vinyl would be a lot cheaper?
So anyone care to enlighten me as to if this is possible or not?
and any advice on how NOT to shoot up the kerb and onto the pavement trying to execute a u-turn as I almost did on my cbt last week will be greatly received! doh!

I think it is something to do with the clue will break down the outer layer of the helmet, lessening the strength of the helmet.I'm in the middle of my DAS so excuse my newbie-related inexperience to matters bike/equipment related and bear with me!

Look where you want to be and not at the kirb. Wherever you look you will end up, use plenty of revs and use the back brake to slow the bike! You can use graphics on helmets. That's what the Arai sticker is
On the old polycarbonate lids, you can't use stickers or paint as the solvent destroys the shell. Always best to check with the manufacturers to be sure though.
The problem is that they tend to peel off unless laquered over. To laquer it you'll need to prep the paint. By then it wouldn't be much more for a basic paint job.
