I think you will always make more money by breaking for bits, sadly. There is a guy breaking a completely decent Futura on ebay at the moment purely for the parts and the revenue that will bring. I personally think its a great shame.
However in your case you will never make your money back on the replacement part/s you need to buy, plus people never like buying a bike that's been knowingly down. They always suspect its worse than it actually is.
