Triumph Speed triple. Matt black, limited edition, 1050 engine, 130 hp and bags of fun.
Totally different to the Ducati I had before. But hopefully this one will stay with me a little longer. Will post a pic as soon as I can. Pick it up Saturday if it is all sorted out...
Oh, and got a new Arai lid (matt black obviously) - fits extremely well...much better than my other one.
So if you see a stealthy looking speed triple hooning around south east essex, be sure to pop me a little wave

Indeed, it's so stealthy and so fast, it's radar proof! All black eh.........bet it goes like there's no tomorrow!!

Will def give you a shout when I've got the hang of it...how'd your R1 try go?
Didn't test one in the end. Weather was shite, and the only one the dealer said he had was an 04 plate. He suggested that the 07 model has significant improvements to it, so I should wait until he gets one! I can wait, I guess.

I'm looking at one at the mo, did you get a deal?
Err, not really. There are very few left around...at least round my way, so haggling becomes much more difficult and I'm short of time to do the...OK i'll come back unless I get xyz...So just basically paid up. Maybe free extras are the way to go. If your dealer has not got one, they won't get one in as they've all gone out.Good luck...

Nice
I saw one of them when I was in picking up my White one a few weeks back, looked good. Seems to be the bike of the moment again with an 8 page write up in Ride and was sitting second in the RiderPower survey behind the 675 at the time.So - long time ago it seems I picked up the speed tripple. So if anyone's interested, here's the story so far...
Got a mate to take me up to Ongar Motorcycles - he walks in and I point out my bike (but a green version). He takes a good look around and points to one bike and says "much prefer that, that's the nicest bike in here". Was only my bike!!! I'd missed seeing it tucked away at one side! Big smile so far then.
Then do the whole payment thing...get a tour of the bike, alarm etc and prepare for the ride home. Just at this point it starts sheeting it down! Now the guy in the shop says - keep it below 3.5k revs for the 1st hundred miles, brand new tyres are going to be super slippery in the rain, so no hard braking, no hard accelerating and keep it upright - don't lean it over and you should get home in one peice. Gonna be a fun ride home then!.
After the most awkward, slow, wobbly nerve wracking ride I have ever had, I eventually get home unscathed but filthy. Bike is covered in more crap than i've ever seen and i've got a wet arse. Nice.
Wash it off and put it away with about 45 miles on the clock.
Go on Hoiday next day so wave good bye to the bike for 5 days.
Get back from Hols. Saturday morning go for a ride out with the aim of hitting the magic 100 mile mark (at which point I can give it 5000 beans instead of 3,500). Much nicer - can lean the bike a bit (still not going mad of course) and feel it freeing up all the more I ride it - feels quite wierd to actually feel the bike getting looser and looser. Still feel like a plank doing 55 on a dual carriage way with loads of other bikers nodding then riding off, but there you go!
Doesn't feel as 'planted' as the 748 did, and obviously can't compare power yet, but the throttle does not seem anyware near as direct or precise. Just a comparason, not a criticism. Brakes feel good and the riding position is obviously a lot kinder to the arms and I could imagine doing a lot more miles in one go (especially at sensible (read legal) speeds) with the more upright riding position.
One nice feature this bike has over my last is that it will idle with the side stand down, where my old Duke killed the engine, requiring a restart everytime you got off. Oh, and it has a clock (don't know why this is so important to me, but it is!)
Got back home after much longer than i'd anticipated (can't be all bad then
) and checked the trip - 100 miles exactly just clicked as I approached my drive, so didn't have to go round the block a few times as I thought I might
Sunday came and got some time in the afternoon so took it out again for a blast working up to 5000 rpm. Much better - 80mph (private track
etc etc) and much more like it. Could concentrate more on riding than keeping it in a certain rev range (2-3.5k revs takes some concentrating I can tell you!). Bike feels even better now (145 miles).
Wife prefered the look of my old 748 (nice red and shiny body kit - obviously her words!) and I still miss it, but getting to appreciate the Speed Tripple more and more.
Oh, and nice to be back on two wheels again!!

I got my fugoff bright green triple on Sat, the first 100 miles were hell, but it took me 200 miles to get home from the shop, so that was ok!
I could really feel the bike loosening up and getting smoother, which was a bit weird, but nice.
I've done 350 miles now, washed it twice and have to keep popping out to the garage to check it. I had an SV1000S last and the triple makes it feel a bit boring. I like it lots!

Good good... Mine is tucked up in the garage while I go to work for a few weeks. Hopefully when I get back summer will have finally arrived and I can rack up the miles with a trip to Scotland.
Thankfull mine is already run in
Maybe we should be getting a Speed Triple sub section in here
