Any idea what an 83-84 Kawasaki GPZ 750 is worth? It's been stored in a shed for 19 years and has only done 9000 miles. Looks tidy enough, only needing recommissioned.

1K-1500. IMO there are still quite alot of 900R's around which are held in higher esteem. If its not absolutely mint with 'no miles' i wouldn't say more than 1500 quid

I watch a lot of these on ebay as I fancy an 1100 (my most wanted when I was 17/18). I'd say given that it needs recommissioning (which could be substantial after 19 years with no use) it should be about £1000 tops. Are you looking to buy or sell the bike?

It depends if its a GPz(air cooled) or GPZ(water cooled)

the water cooled bike was never held in any kind of regard when it was new, falling under the shadow of the GPZ900, however if its been stored correctly and all there, a low mileage GPz would be worth buying and holding onto

I think she's air cooled, there's a small 3 inch radiator high up on the front of the engine, Looks more like an oil cooler.
I'm not a biker..... but give the chance if she could be bought for about £350 - £450 and a bit of ellbow grease to recommission. could I turn a profit on it ?

sounds like a GPz

does it look like this?

Turning a quick profit may be more difficult, unless you want a small return...the longer you hold onto it, the more it'll be worth

YESSSSSSSSSS F*CK me it's a motorbike, recommisioning will be a piece of piss, change oil filter and spark plugs, new petrol and battery, and Unseize the brakes, a bit of a polish, turn it over by hand (put in gear and turn the rear wheel) and then MOT it and flog it or keep it as the perfect classic bike. Or if you prefer I'll give you £400 for it at the weekend and I'll rent a van to pick it up.

I remember selling a battered RD375LC (Oversize pistons due to big Seixure) for £450 in 1988. You'd need £1000 + for an RD250LC these days.

you'll need 2-3 for a good, all original 250LC now mate, there rarer than 350's ...

A genuine horn bracket went for nigh on £200 a few weeks ago..its the original drab olive green plated parts that get the LC fantics real excited..i know someone who paid £250 for a set of NS400 mirrors a short time ago as well...

All I need to do now.... is a bit of sweet talking with the owner. I don't think he will ever ride it again, it's that "wife" thing !!

Ian,

Damn shame is red. Had it been black it would have been worth an extra £1k easy. The back ones had the added advantage of a turbo.(GPZ 750 E1 / E2, as opposed to the A1 onwards series - just for the techies.)

You could restore to original (way more than plugs and oil - more info available if you really want to do it) or sell as is for maybe £500 - £800.

Personally, I do like running the old GPZ series - I still think its "good" to feel the bike flex and wriggle under you as you approach the limits - more modern bikes tend to dump you on your rear thinking "oh, that's where the limit was". But I'm an old fogie - don't expect this to add to the value. Its an early eighties flexi almost bike. Never had the "cashe" of the 11, never had the "in yer face" of the turbo.

Still a bike that any decent rider could show the number plate to to many modern mounted "I can ride a bike, me" wantabees - just not many in the market to buy that sort of bike, so the value is low.

Dave

(2CV yellow GPZ 1100, ZX750 E1, ZX 750 E2, more blown up turbo units than I can count)

If it's been stood for years and never turned over, there's a good chance the piston rings could be gummed in their slots... that'll need more than oil and plugs to fix.

and battery will be shot, brakes seized up ,hoses perished tyres perished etc .but worth a punt if the price is right and you can twirl a spanner.
