The old Hack got treated to new tires yesterday.. wehey! (oo i do spoil the ol GPZ)
Now i've been riding for 16 years or so but i've never really found out the official word on new tires.
Should you 'Run them in' for a few hundred miles or 50 or is it all myth?
What do you recon gang?
I was trying to gently and evenly wear the tire down to the edge after about 10 miles and nearly tucked the front wheel in.. Perhaps that was a bit soon..
cheers,
Nik

you need to get the tyre warm enough to burn the releasing agent off. On a track this can be just 2 laps, but in the rain...
Thats always how i have done it.A good sunday trip out does it for me. I usualy just get them nice and warm and then gradually get the bike further and further over untill i get to my "limit"
Usually does it
The boys at Micheldever tyres always recommend a 100 miles for running new sets in before GLF. However that is likely to be conservative as they will be protecting themselves should you bin it during that time. Though one thing is for sure in the rain you virtually get no wear whatsoever nor do the tyres get hot so any miles done on new tyres in the rain should not be counted.
