Anybody ridden both and can say what the difference is ?

Hoping the 750 is just smoother, slightly more torquey and means less gear changing, not mental fast.

Only past my test a few weeks ago, not sure a 1000 would be a good idea wink

The 600 will be just as good as the 750 for a newbi, cheaper purchase, and insurance. It would also take a competent rider too get that little bit more performance out of the bigger bike.

Yea, I've ridden both, and yes the 750 has more power and torque, in the real world it means naff all. The 600 will not help you in the bragging stakes though.

John.

600.

I've "ridden" both!
The 750 is still being run in, but the difference in noticable under 6000. Less gear changes indeed, and you can tell it just wants to take off. As long as you're over 25 Suzuki have an insurance deal on at the mo, giving you a years proper cover for £139.

Make sure it's the right colour though!

600 will go as fast as you want need it to and will cost less on insurance and wear out tyres and chains at a slower rate. To be honest if you are new to biking most of the current 600-1000 race reps probably aren't that good you won't have the skill yet to get the most out of them but the riding position will be uncompromising and uncomfortable.

Something like a Fazer 6000, Thundercat or an SV650S will be practically as quick as a race rep in a novices hands but will be more comfortable to ride on.

I'd agree with this. I bought a zxr750 after passing my test and found it pretty difficult to ride. I wouldn't say it had too much power but I found the riding position a bit aggressive for my nervous disposition at the time. I struggled with it for a couple of years and chopped down to a thundercat and my riding came on leaps and bounds. I've ridden a 600 fazer and it's even easier to ride. I then chopped in the cat for a zx6r and found it a bit gutless and chopped it in for a blade after a year. I've had the blade for 6 years now and love it to bits. In short I'd get a cat (which will be a bargain and you'll lose next to nothing over 2 years) and then get what you like after a couple of years. If you're a full on mentalist I'd get the 750 straight away because the torque is easier to ride than the revs if you see what I mean.

Regards,

Mark
