For too long now these series have been the Ducatti cup and I'm tired of it. Yes I know that Honda won the BSB last year, and I'm pleased of it... but here is a quick re-cap.
I'm not gonna bother putting in times dates rules etc, just brief...

Duc 916 Vs all 750cc bikes.
It becomes clear that the Duc has developed more than predicted and is beating the 750s every time.

They bring in a rule change to allow 1000cc bikes - Duc carry on refining existing product using previous date, all other teams have a new bike, untested.

They realized that the 1000cc bikes cant compete, so bring in more rule changes ... to the 1000cc bikes, Duc carry on refining existing product using previous date, all other teams have a new bike, untested.

They realized that the 1000cc bikes still cant keep up, and allow them to run full power - Duc carry on refining existing product using previous date, all other teams have a new bike, untested.

So all the teams had to keep adapting, except for Ducatti, why didnt they just make the Ducs slightly heavier to negate part of their advantage? Nope, lets mess every other team around so the Duc can carry on winning.

And now the 1000cc bikes are catching/caught up... Ducatti have whined and whined until they've been allowed a capacity increase... so the Ducatti cup will run on and on and I cant be bothered.

Note for Moto GP - Ducatti have entered a new series (the 800cc) and had to make a new bike just like everyone else....... they are winning, and they deserve it cos they are winning on equal terms with everyone else.

Aye, but everyweek it's on I get riled by how the Duc riders are riding so relaxed, and the only 4-cyl rides near them are clearly riding their nuts off.

Every race I end up ranting at it, so I'm boycotting it! I hope that teaches them! wink

Read here ---> http://www.crash.net/news_view~cid~5~id~151482.htm

They will be handicapped and the handicapping will be monitored so no one gets an advantage.

Are you saying Bayliss has it easy???

Troy & the BSB riders are having to work every bit as hard as the multi-cylinder bike riders.

Troy is a good rider, they all are.

But I dont think Troy would have won any superbike titles if he hadnt of been on a Duc.

If Toseland was on the Ducati he wouldn't stand a chance against Troy imo. don't forget Troy has ran at the front in Motogp on many occasions and won a race.

Just because Ducati won most of the 750/1000 titles doesn't mean the rules were in their favour, just that they had the better riders onboard imo... look at year 2000.. Haga challenged for the title on the R7 and very nearly won. the new rules will be 50cc less than then for the twins, so should make things very equal... the rider will make the difference imo.

This thread wasnt really to compare individual riders worths or skills, Troy is a great rider for sure. And yes Duc have had good riders, but so have the other teams. If you take a look at riders who left Duc and then went to be champs on other machines? I really can't be bothered to look it up, but please feel free to quote some if there are any.

Having not watched this years racing, it just might be that the 1000's have now had enough time to develop following the constant rule changes they've had to endure... but this mention of 50cc less has me intruiged... got a link to any info on it? Is it definate? I though Duc had been allowed to go to 1200cc?

Just found on MSN web site

Technical regulations for the 2008 World Superbike Championship have finally been anounced allowing 1200cc twins to compete in next year championship. As predicted in MCN three weeks ago the new rules will see 1200cc twins have to run with a weight penalty, air restrictors and use some standard engine internals, whislt the only change to the 1000cc four cylinders is that there weight limit will be reduced by three kilograms to 162KG.

Below are the main points of the new technical regulations. See MCN out on Wednesday 20th June for full infornmation and what the teams had to say about the changes.

· Minimum weights.

o 2 cylinders over 850cc up to 1200cc: 168kg

o 4 cylinders over 750cc up to 1000cc: 162kg

Minimum weight of 2 cylinders over 850cc up to 1200cc will be updated, if needed, during the Championship in steps of ±3kg to 171kg as a maximum and 162kg as a minimum.

I mean't that they had a 250cc 'advantage' previously and now will have a 200cc 'advantage' hence 50cc less than previously... the 750cc fours could compete & win titles against the 1000 twins... so there is no reason why a 1000 four can't compete equaly with a 1200 twin.

Imo, the rules will favour the fours.

You really are missing out, todays racing was fantastic.. and you'll be pleased to hear there wasn't a Ducati in sight... they really struggled on a power circuit.

I'm gonna keep on missing out, I have a principle to stick to this season! But I will be keeping out for reports such as these, then i'll be hungry to return next season.

Silly question.... are the Kawasaki's winning anything yet?

NO. Let hope they do in MotoGP with JH in 2008.
