First bike for £500

What bikes would make good 1st street bikes for around 500quid. Must be 500cc plus but cheap to insure. Would like a little project but nothing that needs total overhauling.

Lots of detail there then t do yer cbt and DAS first

Kawasaki GPZ 600R are cheap and you can get bits for them fairly easily (I have one that I've refurbished)but they're ancient, things like Kawasaki ER5 and other learner shool bikes are also cheap but most folks seem to get bored with them quite quickkly.
It depends if you're just looking for transport or hoonage.
