Pretty much as subject, really. 2008 will see our favourite Mr Toseland on a Tech 3 Yamaha.

That's the rumour. No-one has confirmed it yet though. I guess Tech 3 won't be on Dunlops next year and I hope tey can get themselves a little more organised than they usually are.

And from what I've heard better factory support and not on Dunlops either, but don't know if it will be Michelin like the Fiat Yamaha's or whether it'll be Bridgestone (or even if all the Yamahas are Bridgestones or not?).

So Toseland & Edwards do you think?

That's good I think.... He needs to make the move now, hopefully he'll be up there next year and then get a factory ride after that.

Toseland and Edwards together. That should be interesting.

At last a decent Brit on a decont bike in MotoGP!

Just hope he doesn't go the same way as Ellison in the Tech 3 team.

4th rate bike that everybody else in the yamaha team didn't want to use!

MotoGP back runner team is a good way to destroy a great racers career!

They have only back runner team this year because of the tyres, but then they haven't been that slow on them. If Toseland has signed for them they won't be on Dunlops next year.

The headline should read:

"Toseland confirmed at Tech3 for 2008, Ten Kate Honda again in 2009"

The factory Yamaha is struggling into the top 5 with Valentino Rossi as the pilot.

So, all we're asking is for Tech3 to:

1) possibly develop the bike for a different tyre brand

2) bridge the current performance gap to the factory bikes

3) bridge the gap the current factory bikes obviously have, probably using the very equipment that is holding the factory bikes back, while they get the new stuff.

4) or do 2 and 3 on Dunlops

Riiiight.

He should have held out for a factory. I wonder if Suzuki or Kwak would have spoken to him had Tech3 not been fawning all over him in the press?

Who was the last WSB rider to do well in a Satellite team?

WHAT IS HE THINKING - UTTER MADNESS.

He will be no where and following the same career path as Hodgson! The WSK Honda ride for the next few year was to be full factory and big buck - BURK.

Kiryoni I recon will be on that bike now (well think he would have been in the team either way).

MotoGP - You have to have a Works bike, a Yam even on Michelins is struggling with Vale on it - JT would be mugged by Vale if they were on exactly the same bike, so a down the grid Tech 3 bike - laughable.................laugh Words fail me. And you get to race half as much!

All sources seem to be pointing towards the 2008 Tech 3 M1 to be a lot different to the current bike and, more importantly, using a different tyre supplier.

Besides, maybe Toseland just wanted to try racing in the series at the peak of two-wheeled motorsport? I'm sure he doesn't need the money and I'm sure he wouldn't have taken the deal unless he felt he could be slightly competitive.

In al likelihood they will be on Michelins and the bike will be lower spec than Rossi's he will be no way - just work it out The works Honda will obviously be ahead of him (2), the works Yam to especially with Rossi and the 250 champ on them (2), the Ducatis obviously(2), the Pramac Ducatis in all liklihood (2), Gresina defineately ahead of the Yam on pace / grunt and cash in the team (2), Work Kwaks - there will be 3 next year and they are FAST (3), the works Suzis(2 maybe 3) they will be up front, so ad that lot up and ask yourself if he will be in the top ten very often and if he is who cares if you are 6th - 10th or lower.

I bet he doe need the money - he is doing it cos he think he can do it (good - respect, but he won't). Hodgson used to make JT look very average when team mates for a few years and ya he may have gotten better but he is not i the same league as Rossi, either the 2 Honda works riders, Stoner, Hopkins, Melhandri, Capirex and quite a few others.

Do the MATH.

So has he, and he wouldn't have taken a ride on a back marker team just for the sake of a MotoGP ride. He has stated he would only do it on a full factory bike, which is why he has turned down Gresini Honda and D'Antin Ducati over the last 12 months. Wait for the official Yamaha/Tech3 press release.

Strange thing to say especially as he has had the upper hand over people like Barros and Biaggi etc.. over the last 2 years. Both of whom are MotoGP/GP500 winners, how many races has Hopkins won?

Even if it is Full factory (which it won't be - look at Gresini and what they were promised and they are a bigger team than Tech 3), unless it is totall new with the pneumatic valve engine the Kwaks, Suzi, Works Honda, Work Ducatis and other will be ahead - it he get the odd top 8 he will be doing a mega job.

The Question you have to ask is why at the powers that be not try to get a Brit on a Factory bike?

Your mathS would be absolutely spot on if it weren't for one minor detail:

Your calculations are based on the 2007 bike/rider/tyre combinations.

Carry on.

It will all be much the same - no works team largely behind the works ones! Kwak will be further up even than this year and the ones already doing will will be do the same or better and the other new Yam (Works rider - Lorenzo will be miles better than Edwards) - maybe Edwards will be on the TK / Honda Blade next year!? Why would he want to drop to the Tech 3 bike!
