Is using this sort of stuff on a motorbike a complete No-no for obvious reasons or is it something someone on here has done before.

Dont want to spray it on then go sliding into a bush.

I would say a no-no would be like putting WD 40 on your back tyre.

I think one of the active ingredients is silicone, which won't help grip much

As long as you are careful to only apply it to the sidewalls of the tyre and don’t go anywhere near the tread, I can’t see why there would be a problem.

I saw on the tv once a bloke who had done this.It was for an accident investigation program where they looked at what caused the accident.

Ask yourself why rather than if it'll be ok!!

Clean with a solvent like tyre buff, this will evaporate and just leave a clean tyre.

Presumably the fool put it on the treaded part rather than sidewall!

My father did this once when he bought a brand new K1 gsxr1000 (do you all remember them?) Put dressing on the very edge of the rubber to give it that "black" look. Took off up the road about 4 hours later when we were on our way to the Ace, took the first right hand turn at the top of our road and ended up on his arse.

The dressing had seeped up the wall of the tire onto the contact patch.

Presumably the fool put it on the treaded part rather than sidewall!

I think he either put it all over the tyre or some of it got onto the tread by accident like the example above.To long ago to remember the full details though.

I used to put it on the tyres of my BMX when I was a kid so I could wheelspin. Brilliant stuff lol.
