Sorry to put up another topic on tyres, but im a bit stuck.
I'm off on a trackday on Sat so wanted some new tyres for my 03 R6. Phoned about and no-one would do the 2CTs as they all say they're on recall (thought it was just the French ones?), the Corsa 3s (which i really wanted) don't come in the right size for the front (should be 120/60 - they only do 120/70).
I had a pair of D208RRs in the shed i was going to get fitted with about 50 road miles on them, but it looks like the seal on the rear was damaged when the garage took them off, so i'm left with the option of new rear D208RR or the Metzeler M3 or wrong sized Corsas ??

I don't want something too track focused that's going to last 500 miles.
So my questions are really - new rear D208RR if still made / M3 / Qualifiers ?

Or can i put a Corsa 3 on in the 120/70 rather than the 120/60 and what difference is it likely to make?

D208RR's are a total bargain at the moment, end of line for manufacture and all that, thats if you can live with the sidewall deformation these tyres have(seem to move around for me quite a lot)
Haven't tried qualifiers yet...Some people have said less than nice things about them though.
D209 GP's/Supercorsas/racetec..probably a bit too sticky for road and track.
I don't blame you for trying the Diab corasa 3's, superb tyre.
I'm using standard Michelin Pilot powers on my track Gixxer6 at the moment and i'm really impressed with the grip and feedback, far better than 'other' road biased tyres i've tried in the past.

Buy some part worn racetecs or supercorsas - it is quite easy to get them and this will save you loads. Use them on the day and bin em!
120/70 is fine if you use the coresponding rear (i use them on my 600rr. I also use a 190/55 rear over the 180. Give one of the shops off ebay a call and you would have them by the weekend.

Cheers chaps - Just ordered a new rear D208RR as it makes use of the front one i have and it was only £90 ish. They rate them as being fast road / trackday so i reckon they should be a better bet than the Diablos i have on now.

I'm assuming you have an early R6?, as these were wierd in having a 120/60 front tyre. Pirelli and Metz both recommend the fitment of the 60 OR the 70 profile tyre. Those tyres dont grow as much under high speed due to construction, therefore wont catch the mudguard. A 120/60 will ALWAYS handle worse on that bike. Most others come to think of it.

Oh cool - going to be running the D208RR 120/70 front and 180/55 rear. when these are spent I'll try the Corsa 3s in the 120/70 and 180/55.

Any tips on pressures or just run what the manual says ?

Be careful on tyre clearance with the some of the tyres, or your mudguard could wear through. For road pressures consult the TYRE MANUFACTURERS fitment guide, trackday let em down some more as they will be running hotter.
