Just got back from a weekend camping on the blade and my Alpinestar SMX boots (non waterproof) are soaked through.

I'm just about to go online and get some SMX-4 Waterproof boots with the Goretex lining.

Anybody have these - are they any good or will they let water in like my Alpinestar Goretex Gloves!!

BTW, had to ditch my cheapo bike textile jacket and bought a Hein Gerrick jacket for 200 squid - only bit of waterproof kit that worked!

So SMX4 Goretex? Worth going for?

I had SMX3 Goretex and they were great, only problem was the velcro went after a year or so.
I'm on Oxtar TCS something or other Goretex now, brilliant, never got wet feet yet in over 15,000 miles or more.

Had the SMX3 Goretex for about 2 years now - no leaks so far.
Had the Oxtar TCS Goretex for about 3 years before that - again no leaks & very good boots.

I've heard mixed reviews about the Black Rains and I'm not 100% happy myself. I do often end up with soggy toes in heavy downpours, even after only a 20min commute. The Goretex models for Sidi are meant to be much more water resistant.

Best invention ever - Sealskinz waterproof socks!

I took some to France earlier in the year and they were brilliant through some terrible weather.
