San Marino MotoGP - anyone fancy riding down...?
Discussion
Thinking of heading down to San Marino for the GP, as hopefully it will more meaningful than Valencia at the end of the season.
As always absolutely no real planning, razz down, see the race and maybe head back via Ducati and Maranello. Have to do it over a long weekend cos of work but anyone fancy heading along.
Should be a good laugh!!!

Bloody hell! I just checked where it is and that's a trek n'a half?!
I drove to Cannes last year in a day & that was knackering.....I've been riding seven weeks so i think that's a little beyond me. Not to mention the 75 fuel stops required per journey! Annoying as it fitted in quite well with my rota at work.

Have a think... Its probably not that bad, reckon 1 day blatting down to the south of France, relaxed day over the Alps and into Italy.
On the way back I'd thought over to Luca and up the mountains across to Maranello etc then next day blat it back...
I've done north Italy to Calais in a day before and Istanbul to London in 3 days, wouldnt totally recommend it but its doable... But yes, its quite a long way! I actually thought San Marino was on the France / Italy border, but hey in for a penny...

I'm getting about 150 miles from my GSXR6 at the mo......I make that roughly 10 fuel stops per journey......which means the best part of £300 on fuel alone! On the way back I'd thought over to Luca and up the mountains across to Maranello etc then next day blat it back...

Bit rich for my blood I'm afraid.I did this journey a couple of years ago. I spread the journey over 2 days each way, stopping in Anneccy over night. Because the roads were so good, we ending up refuelling every hour.
Going through Mont Blanc and chamonix area was excellent, and was blessed with great weather all the way.
Stayed in a hotel in Rimini which was about 20-30 mins from Misano
You know you want to

Now, I would have said yes if it meant just a day out of the office and somewhere a tiny bit nearer. But this is a bit too far for me I'm afraid.
Haha!Well maybe could change plan!!! Thought of the GP as something to do, but I guess it was more about actually seeing some sun! And yeah it is quite a long way for a weekend!
So could just make a it a longer weekend of blasting the bikes... Maybe leave thursday night, blast around France taking in old race track near Reims, maybe Le Mans and aim to get late ferry back on Sunday for work on Monday.
Could be PH Franch bike bash..
Bought the Falco for just such a journey, but not sure if I have enough holiday left to do it this year. I'd give Le Mans a miss on that journey as it takes you a off course by quite a long way. Reims GP circuit is two and a bit hours from Calais and dead easy to find (just off the peage, exit 22 as you pass through Reims). Via Michelin thinks it's ~1400kms and 13 hours from Calais, a bit much in one day, easily manageable in two.
