Hi all, first post in this forum so be gentle....
I passed my DAS course with flying colours in July and now that I have all my gear have narrowed down my search to a new Kawasaki ZX6R i'm planning to purchase one with the plate change in the next couple of weeks.
Any comments on the bike, have taken out a R6 and CBR but personally prefer the Kawasaki.

well done on passing your test
as for the bikes, as youve ridden tham all and already and have a preferance towards the ZX6R i'd say thats the right one for you
they are all good and all slightly differant ,if you see what i mean? so personal preferance and the one that feels "right" for you is the most important thing
happy hunting
and enjoy

I think you'll love the bike - supos'd to feel a little heavier than the R6 / CBR6RR but I belive the ZX6R was always fastest on track. At the end of the day, if you've just passed your test, you did the right thing by going with the bike which has the best feel for you... Post some pics when you've collected her, what colour did you go for?

The only thing I can think to say is; Are you sure you want to get a brand new bike as a first bike?
I mean, I could go into the statistics but I'm sure you've already heard them
It was never my original plan, but given the price differential between one say 4 yr old and the new one, it’s pretty much an obvious choice for me. They both break the same if they are dropped (not that I intend to) and at least I will know exactly what I am getting with a new one compared to one that has covered 10k plus miles....I mean, I could go into the statistics but I'm sure you've already heard them

I've just bought the new zx6r and am waiting for it to come in, its going to replace my
old A1P 636 zx6r.
Its worlds apart from that and my older cbr600f, very extreme in riding position and
the way you end up riding it, not sure it would have suited me at all as a first bike,
but if you've ridden a few then you should know.
..and as for the colour? Normally I would have said the green but with those new black
placyy bits either side of the tank...sorry its got to be black.
Roll on next wednesday when I can pick it up!

Why are you 'guaranteed to drop it' ?
I bought a brand new R6 & haven't dropped it yet (almost 18 months later).
I'd suggest buying the bike YOU want & enjoy every f@cking minute of it.
Agreed - they all break the same and generally cost the same to fix... 0%APR as well, that's got to save a fair bit...I bought a brand new R6 & haven't dropped it yet (almost 18 months later).

No way would I buy a brand new bike as a first bike!!! You are guranteed to drop it within the first 12 months!!
Rubbish.. however granted a lot of newbie bikers do but I bought a brand new ZX6R in 1997 as my first bike after passing my test didn't ever drop it once due to my riding. It did however get trashed 3.5 years later some 4months after moving to london due to a non observant south london driver driving into me and knocking me off - so hardly my fault.mj04uk said:
OK, so here is another one for you - security devices:
Meta or Data Tool ?
Smartwater or Data Tag ?
Cheers
To be fair I don't think that all that stuff is worth it. The reality is is that alarms go off all the time & no-one ever flinches.Meta or Data Tool ?
Smartwater or Data Tag ?
Cheers
Personally, although I do have a data-tool (annoying thing it is - either going off all the time or not at all), I think a big thick chain & ground anchor is the best defence against theft.
