How do Gents

Work might be relocating 34 miles away. Im thinking of getting a bike if we do move. If I had about 3k to spend, what would you suggest I look at? Ive only ever held a CBT and ridden a 125. Im a fan of the duke monster, but all other bikes are just a blur. Any advice tips? It seems anything with a fairing is more expensive to insure. Ive just done a quote on a Triumph thruxton and its cheaper to insure than a 620cc monster...

With 3K you'll be pushing it a bit, as you'll need to do your license and get your gear.
(or is this excluding the license / gear / insurance?)

For commuting, it really depends on what sort of roads you'll be commuting on.

I'd avoid the monster as a work horse commuter, you'd be lucky to find one cheap enough and servicing is expensive compared to japanese bikes. Something like an old Fazer 600 would be cheap and durable.
