if i buy one for around the £2.5-3k mark would i be likely to get my money back on it in the spring when i want to upgrade to a new Fireblade, i want one for whats let of the summer and the odd nice winter day, unlikely to do many miles on it, if i bought a 748 in this price range is it unlikely to lose any value over say 6 months?.

Plan sounds good to me, I can't see you losing much on the price - as long as you don't incur any great running costs.

You know it makes sense..........

always fancied giving a Ducati a go and really want the 2008 Fireblade too, not having a bike is really annoying me now so i would like to get a 748 as they seem to hold thier money pretty well and ive always wanted to give a Ducati a go but never quite took the plunge, this way i can still get a new Fireblade in the spring as i imagine a 748 in that price range isnt that hard to sell?, i will no doubt be asking some Ducati advice close to the time of purchase smile.

What's the worst you are going to loose...a few hundred at most. If you buy now and sell at the right time, you may make a few quid...

Having had a 748 - I can only reccomend it. Do it! Even if you don't really ride it, you could just sit there and look at it!
