I'm interested if you like it (please don't shatter my illusions by saying its rubbish and you would rather have a cb500).
Also be interested in how well or badly it faired by bing dropped.
I'll let you know the score on all that. Also be interested in how well or badly it faired by bing dropped.
I can tell you I wouldn't have a cb500 already. I already have a 2003 CBR600F so I have a rather good benchmark to compare it against. Both bikes have similar power and weight overall according to stats. I know one has a fairing and lower bars than the other but I'm particularly looking for a replacement more suited to London commuting.
Well I rode it this morning. Its simply fantastic!! Its got so much low down go compared to my CBR600F its effortless off the line. Absolutely storming!! It handles really well too and stops fantastically std braided lines too. It physically quite a small bike but it really works well. Nice dash layout with a built in gear indicator which is a nice touch.
Few things I wasn't so keen on:
I had arse ache after an hour of riding it non stop and the demo had the optional gel seat it seems very narrow at the front, looking at a standard seat its probably gonna be better suprisingly. Dealer bloke doesn't suggest it either. It def not a bike I'd want to be doing long distances let alone euro touring on.
Secondly the rear suspension seems a bit budget for me bit bouncy over non smooth surface and also has a tendency to kick you out of your seat. Poor compared to my CBR in that respect only. Reaseach on t'internet tells me that the Daytona 675 shock can be chucked on it and it sorts it.
Finally the throttle response is initially very sharp which I liked but this does mean its a bit snatchy and you can put unintended throttle input over bumpy surfaces.
Demo I was given was black, fully optioned up and had the low boy arrow full race system on it. F**k me is it loud!! For a test ride it was perfect for some of the time but not on some of my chosen test route as the cops were all over city airport area in force for some reason. I was riding slowly past them in a high gear and it was still seriously loud. For those that don't know the area, its your best chance of riding a bike in London with minimal traffic dual carridge way
I did use 2 tunnels on my route to make the most of the noise!! It was popping on the overrun.. cool!
Seriously I'd have the standard twin exhaust though, we did back to back comparisons with a guys standard one he'd just come to pick up and you still get the nice tickover tone but its properly tamed down when you rev it.
It will be perfect for town work and made me feel like a proper hooligan with that exhaust man sooo many people looked round or over when they heard it, it does have a fantastic unique sound. I'm seriously thinking about it.

Surprisingly, I found that on the Sprint ST. Touring on the gel seat was good for 600 miles before I was needing to call it a day. With the standard seat I managed 1200 miles in a day and still felt pretty good afterwards... Wouldn't recommend it on a regular basis though, I'll leave that to the Ironbutt guys.I had arse ache after an hour of riding it non stop and the demo had the optional gel seat it seems very narrow at the front, looking at a standard seat its probably gonna be better suprisingly.

I'm swaying over to green now. Haven't been able to get much of a deal, all seems to be based on rrp + a discount on accessories and free fitting. Anyone managed anything better?
Exactly what I was told.. I'm still thinking about it, dealer refused to spend the time giving me a trade in price until I def signed up to order one. I'm airing on waiting a bit to be honest, dealer says they've sold 25 so far since its been out and its at least an 8 week wait so nov min before any chance of delivery. So no chance of dizzy when its so new and popular with a relatively long wait. Getting a brand new bike delivered again in Nov done this before ain't my idea of perfect timing - I'm thinking of changing for March next year now prob some discount available off the bike rrp by then too. Anyway nice not to be in a hurry.Leadfoot said:

Have a look at roulette green bikes that are a few years old, I don't think it's a colour that ages well (maybe it's a uv thing?). All of the ones I've seen have looked a bit tired.
As there isn't that much green I can get a good lathering of wax on it to keep it Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen.
