I need a new chain for the blade. It's a 2000 rry and it needs a heavy duty o-ring chain. Basically it's developed the mother of all tight spots in that if I adjust the chain to the tight spot it's all over the place everywhere else and quality of the gear change is suffering.

Can anyone recommend a make and/or supplier of a chain for all year round use. The sprockets don't look worn at all but in for a penny.

Cheers,

Mark

PS. What's the difference between a heavy duty and normal as both seem to be available for my bike?

Best value i've found are these - X ring chain & sprocket kit for £80, o ring kits are £60 both include a 12,000 mile warranty.

B&C express are good for the top makes, but think they're around £100+ for the chain alone.

What's the catch? Have you fitted one and was it ok?

Not used them myself, but know of people that have used stealth products & said they were fine.

Last chain & sprocket kit i bought was from B&C and it cost me around £120, which is still working great on my track bike.. Going to give the stealth kit a try for my road bike though.

I phoned them up and they don't do an o-ring kit for my bike but I've bought a 530 x-ring chain kit for 79.99 plus 6.95p&p. Had the choice of gearing too but went with standard again. I'll let you know what it's like.

They're slow on delivery. I ordered it last wednesday and still isn't here. On calling them they only shipped it yesterday.

It arrived in time for the weekend. The markings on the sprockets suggest that they are the same make as the ones that came with the last triple-s chain I had. The chain itself is a normal looking x-ring job. Just as easy to fit as ever. Transformed the gear change as new chains seem to on the blade. I'll report back if there's any problems but otherwise assume it's still working.

The old one was a bit stretched but not massively so. The old sprockets were a bit worn on one side but still ok. Problem was a huge tight spot probably caused by leaving it in one position for too long in the garage while I took the head off last summer and then leaving it in the shed after a wet ride for 3 months while I got over tennis elbow. How to shag a chain in two easy steps. D'oh.

Cheers.
