Great Day at the Ace
Discussion
What a top day on the London to Brighton run. Nice to meet you Podman and Foz thanks to Pistonheads.................superb day as well don't know what happened on the way into Brighton but looked like a big accident! The run back was the awesome and to feck all over that GT3 made my day good thumbs up at the end from the driver when we slowed down as well, must admit it did go well.
Next years the 70th so should be a big one hopefully a few more will go, for me today was as good as the Isle of Man TT! Shame its a sign of the end of the summer......

8.30am this morning, push bike out of garage to leave for the run..........and lots of nasty mashing of ring gear and grinding noise, so I'm guessing a fecked starter system somewhere......so no Brighton run for me.
Did try the various old fashioned methods of freeing off for the next 10 mins but no deal.......
Wasn't impressed to say the least.....especially at only 6 months old.
Serves me right for buying a tractor I suppose

Mate that happened to me at the Isle of Man this year, watched the supersport race went to start the bike grinding noise, ended up being the sprag clutch £565 pound later all back to normal! Bloody Ducatis!

T'was a great day out wasnt it?
Brilliant run out to end the summer on..traffic was a nightmare on the way home but well worth the trip. The atmosphere down there is fantastic.
respec' to the rockers n dollies of the 50's and 60's...must have been a great era to live in when England was a far simplier place and people where proud to be British.

I went there yesterday as well - didn't get there til around 15:00 though as had other things on. I overhead two guys talking on the ride back out of Brighton about the crash on the way down on A23 - so no idea if true or not (hopefully not) but one of them said that he had see what happened and a lady on an old bike - perhaps BSA hit the back of a car, and did not appear to be in a good state.
He also said that there were others involved as there were 2 or 3 people laying in the road as he went past. By the time I arrived later the A23 was closed southbound, and was still closed when I left around 17:00 - so must have been serious.
I have looked on local news and cannot see any mention of a serious accident - so fingers crossed the guys I overheard were wrong.
Was a good day though from what I saw!

Have just heard that a friend of friend who we were socialising with at the Ace on the Saturday evening was killed on her bike the next day on the Brighton Run......so this may have been the accident......RIP Marta.....

We had a great day there on Saturday, super bikes, people, music and weather. There was a very striking female leading the Ormonde street run in the afternoon - on an old AJS (she was the camera bike). Dressed in leathers with all the badges, pudding basin helmet, long wavy black hair and brilliant red lipstick. I would be very upset to think that she was involved in the fatality on Sunday. But having said that, a tragedy for whomsoever may have been involved. My condolences.
Unfortunately it sounds like the guy I overheard had it right.
