First service and they damaged my bike...

My R1 had it's 600 mile service today - got home and found the following damage;


I guess they would have had to remove the fairing to complete the service? I'm not so annoyed that the damage has been done but am annoyed that the mech must have noticed and didn't bother to mention the damage.
I know life could be loads worse but I am bl**dy annoyed with them!
I've emailed them and ask them to sort it ASAP.

Damn right...I wouldnt muck around emailing the dealer, the only people I woul consider emailing is RiDE magazine..I guess the ex Carnell mechanics had to find a job somewhere...A few years ago I bought a brand new ZX9, I rode it straight from the dealership to a petrol station 200 yards away, where upon I noticed a large chip in the tank.
I took if straight back to the shop, at an RPM beyond the advised running in speed,( Wheels International on the A5 Nr Hockliffe,Beds), and guess what? They blamed the people who came into the dealership to fit the alarm,the alarm fitters blamed the dealer..
I had some strong words to say to the dealership as it was in their care and the bike was brand new but basiclly neither party would take the blame, I was stuck in the middle without any legal way out.
So I rang up the local consumer radio show, got them on that,which pissed them right off, then I sent them a nice email cc to RiDE magazine , which Chris Dabs replied to and as if by a miracle the dealer resolved it "as a good will gesture"
If they try and fob you off, change tact instantly and let them know you are not going away.
I threatened to leave my bike outside the shop every weekend with a placard on it until the issue was resolved and I would have if they hadnt of fixed it.
Anyway, sorry to go on...I hope your dealer is more honourable than Wheels used to be.
Morale of the story: check everything when you take your bike/car /whatever away from any work.
