New busa is out end of Oct/Nov

Wait for that is my advice!

Best thing about the kwak at the mo is that its on a 0% deal.

I had a ZX12R for 7 years (2000 model) from new. Fantastic bike. I picked up my black ZZR1400 (with black wheels biggrin) in June this year and it's a noticeable improvement on the ZX12R. It handles better, is smoother and has more torque low down (once you remove the secondary flies, takes about 20 mins). Also, I get 40 miles to the gallon without being particularly soft and also it's got a larger tank than the 12R. Basically, it has 6 years more tech progress and you can feel it. Highly recommended by me smile

Ditto most of that. I owned a 12r since 2000 until it was pinched. The '14 is an incredible allrounder and overall does everything better. Then so it should I guess. It's in a different league if you ever find anyone brave enough to go pillion. It's not as pretty as the 12, but it's ugly in a cool way. It's one mean mf. Mean things shouldn't be pretty I reckon.

As for waiting for the new 'busa I disagree. Suzuki have made far fewer changes to the old bike compared to what kwak have done since the 12r. The busa is intentionally unchanged in terms of frame etc to make life easier for the tuners and they've been much more conservative with the looks. I also think kwak still have the edge when it comes to monster motors. I've kept my 'flies in for the moment and I quite like the turbo rush that happens. You can really feel the secondary flies opening and I think it makes it a very easy bike to ride given the faintly silly amounts of go on offer.

My 12r was tuned and I reckon the standard 14 is quicker still. If comedy power and 2 wheeled alton towers ride is your thing then you'll love it. If you just want a sports bike you might prefer something like the Gixer 'thou.

the looks can be quickly improved by adding some aftermarket cans. The standard ones are a bit too old school for me. these are from 'two brothers' and are very good quality items but they are LOUD!!

The ZX12 is on hell of a bike one of the lads (coach) had his for a few years, Jesus you should have seen him make it go, truly a sight to behold.

Channel 5 news interviewed him about the bike, think it was one of the first one's in private hands at the time.

I'll second that, mick could make that mothership go alright, faster than it should have been on roads that did not suite it and he was a sight to behold close up,particulary impressive on those fast sweepers

Get the ZZR, you know it makes sense!!
Had mine since end of last year, traded up trom a t.cat WHAT a difference!
Obviously not as nimble as a 600 or 750, but one hell of a motor
IMHO there is no such thing as a Sports/Tourer but the ZZR1400 is the nearest thing you'll get
The bike is soooooooo smooth, no numb fingers on this baby, and you will ride from full to reserve with no arse or wrist ache either! smile

What's the power output of the new 'busa? Suzuki don't seem to publish power figures on their sit.

There's a slight (vrey slight) possibility I might go to live in the US for a while next year...retail is $11999. Gixer thou' $8400, so a new bike for k3 money...or a busa for 6 grand...

I was that soldier. Go with your head, In my opinion the ZX-12r is a better bike than the Busa, I have ridden them both (not the ZZR14 though) I had my 12r for 5 years and covered over 27,000 miles on it. Take it from me it's a mean muther, not for the faint hearted (but it can be as tame as you like) it's up to whoevers at the controls. There is a little more room on the 12 if you have long legs, the distance between the seat and the pegs is more foregiving. Just go do it, you won't be dissapointed. You can pick a decent 2000 model up for little money now (£3000 or there abouts) Got to be worth that.

The new busa is getting rave reviews...Podmans prediction for 2008 , sales of ZZR14's will plummet and the re sale value will go down markedly

Alas, another forgettable Kawasaki slips into obscurity...

ride one.

it's anything but forgettable.

You're not a Suzuki dealer by any chance?

If so, you're rather tragic.

If not, enjoy your 'brand new just like the old' hyapussy and take your snidey comments somewhere else.

Ere’ me now…there is only one hyperbike and that is the legend of the busa…the new one is similar to the old one as the old one was/is a winning formula..

Ill be back on thsi thread in 08 to report on the sales figures and the Kwaks resales..

As for a test ride , TBH I went over on Yer Bike in Aylesbury as they are knocking them out on a 0% deal, as much as I wanted a new bike I couldn’t quite get over the overall slabbiness of it and the Betterware type plastic contraption on its flanks to even motivate me to ask.

Ride the winds of change n all that...

Suzuki dealer it is then.

yeah the 'busa's famous for being a real looker? mmm...

if they haven't changed it much (the new one's possibly even uglier) then why not just stick with the old one? Unless they changed the nasty fake carbon dash the old one had, then it would be reason enough.

the grills on the side of the ZZR1400 are made by George Foreman and can be used to make delicious reduced fat steaks and chops.

ZZR1400 with ABS in black with black wheels - fantastically rapid bike with sublime handling. I've had loads of interest in the bike since I've had it which was rather unexpected smile

The 2008 ZZR1400 has been further enhanced.

The Suzuki is good but now a very dated design and the 2008 is just a cosmetic makeover unfortunately.

Own the Race Track..Errr...SACS....errr...TSCC.....mmmmmmmmm...Full Floater...

AVDS..(or was that Honda...No, Suzuki... Honda was TRAC)

lol! Ah, I knew the grills where there for a reason..Guess the busa was ready for a change, it wouldnt pass the Euro 3 emissions legislation for one thing.

Fair do's thou, it has seen of the ZX12, and every ZZR since 1998 when it come out...Not many bikes have a life span as long lasting...

The "new" 14 got some enhancements to sort out its weak bottom end I heard?

Be discontinued in 2010 at the lastest I bet.

Ere me now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only joking chaps, anything with 2 wheels is all good with me...im after a GSXR Thou K6 or 7 anyway...I really cant see the point of these bikes now with the new breed of thou's, unless you want to carry a pillion or your of a "bigger frame".

I am on the look out for such a beast, primarily for work commuting, maybe a year or two old. Can anyone suggest the best place to buy, and what price we are talking about?

Also does anyone else who is a tall fat bast ride the Suzuki or Kawasaki, which is the most comfortable?

Cheers.

how about the: http://www.kawasaki.co.uk/1400gtr/
