Got to replace the rear so thought I'd splash out on a new front as well - do love some new rubber!

So, what's new at the moment?

if i was you id still hunt out a set of dunlop d207 rr's

my dad can get plenty even though they officially dont make them anymore for the road!!

if not d208 rr's are good but lack the side grip of the 207 at low angle of dangle.

otherwise pirelli diablo corsa

or the soon to be released bridgestone bt-016

how do you get on with them because i tried a set and found they gave no warning when rear grip was about to give out and they always felt as if the front was pushing under hard braking??

I really rate them for road and track, the only time on track where they give any cause for concern are usually after Three track days, (Two at Croft) and that is always the rear.

On the road, no problems at all I always give any tyre time to warm up. When it's dry, well who wants to ride hard on the road when it's wet.

At the ring this year I was able to pass BMW's/KTM's all with more road biased tyres, while it was pissing down.

It's all in the mind.

I'm at Cadwell next week, and my rear tyre has already done Four track days,(Stub and Hobo take note)hehe but I don't want to fit a new set to stand over the winter. I have Two rear and a front Bridgestone Race too try, I'll be a happy man if they are as good as the SC's.

Hey guys - what's happens on a bike if you get a flat? Are the tyres designed like run-flats to still give you some control?

no , you are well and truly "cattle trucked "

Its very seldom you get a front puncture , a mobile fitter i know says he has only been out to 2 in 10 years of business .

I just carry a plugging kit which works with excellent results , so you can be up and running again in 10 minutes

Thanks guys.

I actually thought there was something wrong with the front at first. I was doing about 80 or 90 and all of a sudden the bike didn't want to turn at all... By the time I limped her to the nearest garage, the rear was almost melted from the heat of low pressure.

Your bike comes standard with Diablo Corsa's. This is now replaced by Diablo Corsa 3, the three means triple compound, so is even better than your OE rubber. Metzeler Sportec M3's are also really underated, i have a set of these myself and i love em. £40 cash back on these at the mo too!

Use the non compound ones for that use. These are the ones that come on Triumphs, Prillas, and Dukes as OE fitment. If you must use compound ones ( SC1/SC2.) because thats what you need in your head?? Then the softest you want to be on the rear is SC2, i would say SC2 front also as the bike will squirm less on the brakes.

Ordered them... I'm a little bit worried about the warm up time being that the weather is getting cooler! I'll ensure they're given plenty of time to generate heat. I want to get some track days in before Nov as well so they should suit well.

To be honest, there was nothing really wrong (on the road) with the standard corsa's but I like to try something different each time I need new rubber to guage the feel / grip provided.

Track tyre that does not deal well with heat cycles ...They'll be well past their best long before you "wear them out".

I use the ones off my track bike on the R1 once they are goosed.
