Change your oil and filter, thoroughly clean the it, wax all the paintwork and any chrome work, degrease and clean down the engine /brakes/chassis, spray the engine bay in WD40 or similar, lubricate locks, switches etc
Silkolene sell a fuel conditioner (not a “performance” additive) that I use, this keeps the fuel stable over the time the bike is stored, keeps the octane rating up and stops the fuel from gumming up, brim the tank to the top(to stop condensation forming) ,pour in the additive, then run the bike to make sure the additive enriched fuel is thru’ the whole system.
I remove the brake pads and wipe the discs down with a clean but oily rag to stop the discs rusting…remove the oil with a petrol soaked rag come spring time
Engine wise you are best NOT running the bike.
Why?
Most engine wear occurs on start up, so why start it when you don’t really need to?
When you start the bike, you want to get it good n hot , Yes? ..well, when the engine cools it will draw condensation to it , the chassis and the exhaust system..the engine will look like someone has thrown a bucket of water over it the next day…seriously, its that bad.
If you do the above you can leave it well alone till you come to use it…….
Batterys are easy to look after, you don’t even need to trickle charge it, take it off the car and bring it into the house..It’ll hold enough charge to start the car for a few months.Ive replaced just 1 battery in 20 years of driving/riding by doing this.

Me, put it on paddock stands, block the exhausts and cover it in blankets.
I usually fill the tank full of petrol and start it once a month (if I remember) and let it run till the fan comes on.
What paddock stands do you use with the R1?I usually fill the tank full of petrol and start it once a month (if I remember) and let it run till the fan comes on.
I think it's an ABBA stand, but I'm not that sure, fit's both my bikes no problem, and nothing has broken to date.

The front one has an interchangeable pin that fits into the hole in the bottom yoke, it came with different sized pins.
I had to fit a washer onto the pin for the 05 R1 as it was a bit too close to the underside of the fairing.
I've had the front one for Three years, which T666AKY bought of the net for me, I'll ask if he can remember the name.
It's a really good bit of kit that lets you take the front wheel or forks out, mainly used on the track bike.

Blimey, I've never had any trouble what so ever with they way I store mine over the winter. No rusty disc's or lumpy running due to not adding an additive, or a flat battery.Silkolene sell a fuel conditioner (not a “performance” additive) that I use, this keeps the fuel stable over the time the bike is stored, keeps the octane rating up and stops the fuel from gumming up, brim the tank to the top(to stop condensation forming) ,pour in the additive, then run the bike to make sure the additive enriched fuel is thru’ the whole system.

I'm not saying you've given bad advice or are wrong in any way.
I must confess, I didn't clean the dead flies off before covering it up, and found that they had turned moldy over the course of winter.
I much prefer to give the bike a good going over before I use it in the spring, which involves changing the oil and filter, taking the pads out and cleaning the pistons, followed by a good wash and polish. While it's on the stands I'll give it a gentle run through the box, keeps the chain nice.

Looks like you've had a little heat on the sides of your corsa's... What pressure are you running?

Carry on riding it to work and back.
Mine gets used more in the winter than the summer. I normally cycle, but if it's raining I take the bike as I can wear waterproofs. Does that make me a foul weather biker?
Even went so far as to trial fit the unused bar muffs I bought 2 years ago but haven't fitted because they look shite. My five year old daughter was in the shed 'helping' me do this. She pointed out that they looked stupid and the conversation went...
"There comes a time in your life where you stop caring how other people think you look love"
"Do you care how I think you look?"
"Erm, yes, I guess so"
"I think you look stupid"... pisses herself laughing (metaphorically speaking).
Very funny. F*cking kids. She'll be asking me what a two stroke is next. Don't know they're born, spell in the army..., all this used to be fields.... <snore>.
