And as a rule of thumb, twice the power (not torque) of a four stroke.
Rough example: 500cc Four stroke twin 30bhp, 500cc Two stroke 60bhp.
That's just a rough example before anyone jumps on it.
It a bit like mono bedroom fun. Half the amount of strokes to reach full power.
HTH.

actually 2 strokes produce more torque than a four stroke for a given capacity . hp is derived from a torque figureRough example: 500cc Four stroke twin 30bhp, 500cc Two stroke 60bhp.

hp = torque X rpm divided by 5252 which is why torque and horsepower on a dyno readout cross at 5252 revs

Actually my brother in law pulled me up about this years ago, telling me about his Suzuki GT750.
Also my RD 400 and especially RD500 used to have the legs on the new, at the time FZR 600.

Factually correct though slightly misleading when considering vehicle engines. While the peak torque of the two stroke will be greater, 'decent levels' of torque will be available over a much narrower rev range than a four stroke making it less ‘user friendly’ for engines that don’t run at a single constant speed.

Seriously what's is going on with the education system these days!!!
Someone of 18 would have an excuse because a lot of the 2 strokes have been replaced with slower 4 cylinders... But isn't Chilli 30 something ?
Chilli, get yourself a go on a RGV, TZR or RS250....especially on a track... you'll see the fuss then.
