Sold the car at the weekend so im now in a position to buy a new bike..

A new GSXR K7 is currently the first option, with a R1 second..My previous Yamaha's thirst for oil is putting me off a tad thou.

A noticed that you can get ZX10's for £6995 in last weeks MCN but im not that enthused with team green at the mo

What would you have and why?..anyone got a good deal on their K7's or R1s of recent ?

I've heard this a few times and this months' BIKE magazine has an article about oil usage; primarily about their experiences with their Triumphs.

Strange, as my R1 never uses a drop of oil.

I've got a 2005 R1 which has done 36,000 miles and has never had a thirst for oil. What year R1 did you have? If I do get another sports bike it will be another brand new R1.

I guess it depends and what sort of riding you'll do. I had a CBR600rr 03 as my first bike and I thrashed it round track day's and only ever changed the oil at its regular service. Since then a friend of mine has bought an 06 1000rr and he has said the same, that you can ride it to the track, rag it round the track then ride it home with no problems. Mind you I guess each person has a different take on these things right?

Smiler.

I had a 2002 model which used a lot. I've a 2005 model for over 2 years & hardly uses any.

most people and mags will tell you to buy a suzuki but I'm with the black ZX-10 brigade. It's the most bad-ass which is surely what a litre bike is all about? I have a black ZZR1400 but if I had a sportsbike it would be the ZX10. Give team green a break, they came second at the last moto gp race!

If you go GSX-R, do yourself a favour and hunt down an unsold, new K6. As several magazine articles are now saying, a subtly better (and IMO prettier) bike than the K7 - unless you *NEED* that low-power switch...... wink

Yep Podman has said that too me, the K6 is supposed to be the better bike via tests/articles but will a road rider notice all that rather than a sports bike tester on the track?

Do like the look of the K6 though!

Hmm. The Gentlemen's hooligan choice has to be the R1 in red and White.

I keep saying it, but "Black" is so Ghost rider, and not cool.. Like 2002 lads, FFS, smell the coffee.

Everywhere I have contacted hasnt any new K6's thus far but i wouldnt say No to one of them as well.

Heard from a few people that the K7 produces more top end power at the expense of the mid range..

I shall have to hit the dealers and go for some test rides.

Wise words. There are all very good and it really is a case of the one that fits/suits your style best will be the best one for you.

ZX10R... nice raw power. Black is indeed best.
