ST1300 on Ebay...

Lot of bike for not much money; well under typical price so with the usual caveats, could be worth a look for anyone in the market. No connection with seller (and it's not my bike!); at 17K miles that's half what mine has done and I paid a LOT more than £2K.

I did say 'usual caveats'... it is Ebay, after all. And a motorcycle. Lots of potential for things to be wrong but just maybe, for once, it's a genuine deal.
Maybe. How do we find out though? If it is I'd be mightly tempted to switch from the blade as my commuting tool... maybe.

"The selling price for the bike is so low because I need some cash asap due to some personal problems! You can buy the bike for the price of £2000 . For this price I will also include free delivery of the bike anywhere in the UK. You will also have access to a refund policy on this transaction. However, before any delivery can be done we have to start the transaction on ebay so we can be both protected. In order to start the transaction on the eBay system I need to receive some details from you:
- your full name and address (for your invoice + delivery purposes)...
As soon as the above details will be provided I'll start the official transaction on eBay and they will notify you about this. You'll also receive important guidelines + instructions from them ( please go through them exactly ).
Will wait to hear from you. Thank you for your interest..."

Just tell him you will meet him and pay cash and pick the bike up yourself.

Tell him you'll meet him at Scotswood Road, Newcastle at 11pm Friday night."The selling price for the bike is so low because I need some cash asap due to some personal problems! If he says yes, hell I'll even turn up with a few mates for a laugh.

Why bother with ebay if he's a genuine seller?,he could take this bike to almost any dealer and they would jump at the chance to snap up this bike for only two grand.

Wouldn't it be worth, having the vehicle checked out through an HPI check or a company of similar status, as the registration is on show?
I checked in on the free dvla thing but all that tells us is that the reg is legit and it does have 9 months tax on it. Tricky one. On one hand it could be a scam and the guy could have photographed a legit local bike and checked out the tax disc or it could be genuine and the guy could be strapped for cash. I can't see how the scam works so don't know about that and if it were mine and the book was 4k and I was strapped I'd sell it to a dealer for 3k. Someone could get a bargain but it doesn't feel right at all purely because he could get more from a dealer. Dunno. The free delivery bit makes it too suspicious to touch imo but perhaps I'm being over cautious. I think if I wanted it enough it would be worth digging some more but I don't.Edited by dern on Thursday 11th October 21:40
Well, the 'free delivery' bit could just mean he's prepared to get a National Express coach home after he's dropped the bike off!
I've checked back over completed listings on Ebay and it isn't there, so he hasn't nicked the pics that way. Seems to be well-written, unlike many scams - and mentioning details like the high-level brake light imply either the whole thing is cribbed or he does know the bike, because that's not a common accessory on the ST.
It's not currently on AutoTrader either. Probably still dodgy though

I click on the link this morning 12/10/07, the listing has been removed from ebay, you were probably correct to question the price.Lot of bike for not much money; well under typical price so with the usual caveats, could be worth a look for anyone in the market. Not only that, but 'xt scorchio' or whatever his name was, is 'no longer a registered member'... surprise surprise!
