as ive just sold my old workhorse (Audi 80 TDI)

sorely tempted to start using the DRZ400 for work (its a 40 min round trip that is mostly country roads untill the last stretch into town),this summers been so wet ive hardly ridden on the road (the DRZ is my greenlaner with knobbies fitted i have used it alot over the summer playing about off road)

tempted to get some semi road use tyres ,i have all the wet weather gear for offroading so i guess i might just give it a go see how miserable it is wink

I've been looking at hacks for the winter commute. I've used the bike all summer and going back to a 30 minute longer commute in the car is quite a hardship. I'll continue to use the R1 until the salt goes down.

Brave man smile

I had a DRZ400S until recently. I used it a few times on my commute (about 50 miles each way). The seat is like a razor and I got fed up filling with petrol every day!

Good for wheelies though wink

i find it pretty comfy actually smile ive ridden it for 100mile round trips before now and no problems

guess ive got an iron butt biggrin

as for the wheelies...me and g/f rode it to thruxton on sunday (for the touring cars) to avoid the traffic jams (my fireblade is SORN'd)...yep it wheelies ok

but then i knew that already hehe

Go for it..I used to commute on my old Kawasaki KMX200(remember them?) , for several years, complete with the most agressive but road legal knobbly tyres on it.Pirelli Mt's i think..depending on the roads they can be an ideal tool for the job.

Bloody thing was quicker to 70MPH than my saph cossie I had at the time, that used to surprise the boy racers a lot..
