Really enjoyed the "Long way Round", pleased the new one is on the BBC, no adverts.

I actually thought "Long Way Round" was a bit of a let down TBH.

Two "celebs" get bikes and do a supported trip, complete with medical team/translator/fixer, and the very irritating "Russ" or whatever he was called.

From the bumph, you'd have thought they'd ridden off into the sunset, just the two of them and a handycam. I realise that EMcG is effectively a commodity, and his insurers would have had a full on thrommer if that's what had happened, but it wasn't quite the tough trip they made it out to be.

Not like Nick Sanders (I think) or the original guy who did the RTW trip in the 70s/80s on his Triumph.

I shall of course be tuning in on Sunday anyhow!

I think we should do a PH version, where we tour the Scotch whisky distilleries... we could call it The Right Way Up biggrin

It wasnt Nick Sanders, it was Ted Simons who did the Triumph run - Jupiters Travels.

As for LWR, yes it was supported but they still rode the miles and deserve credit for that. It wasnt a full on solo trip, but as you say the guys did it around their other lives. I've done it the solo way, and its a great laugh but not for everyone and certainly most of it woundn't make great telly!

Enjoy it for what it is, two blokes on bikes having a laugh....

No doubt BMW will be rubbing their hands together in anticipation of the next round of McGregor & Boorman wannabees flocking to their showrooms eager to jump on the next GS1200 bandwagon.smile
