I'm sure ive seen boots as a topic before, but i cant find the threads so asking again. i need some decent boots for the winter & fancy something that look & feel more tuff than the things i have now. oh & they need to be waterproof as i dont one of those car things.
ive seen sidi blackrains for £130, but tbh they dont look that tuff so just like the ones ive got i wouldnt feel protected. hein gerick have some toureg boots in at about the same price which i like. anyone tried them? they say gortex 100% waterproof but are they really?
any other suggestions? i dont want silly bright colours if i can avoid it & would like a high calf.

Utterly waterproof.
I bought a pair of the clubman classics and will be putting my black rains on ebay.
Edited to add: In fact thanks, you've just inspired me to list them... only 4 years after I first intended to

I couldn't find any thread either when I did an advanced search for 'boots'

Anyway as I've probably typed before I recommend Daytona Gore Tex jobbies for year round road riding, I've got the roadstar GTX and I'm on my third pair. They might cost up to £200 a pair but they are more than worth the money. V comfy from new, fully adjustable to calf size with velcro panels and fully waterproof, my old pairs only got dumped after they stopped being waterproof cos the gear change or sole had completly worn away after over 2+ years solid almost daily commuting use all year round. Also you can pay for the factory to renew worn out bits too but to be honest when mine are worn out they are shagged lol

Seconded, I also have the Roadstar GTX boots and they're totally waterproof and warm too. Made my winter commute much more enjoyable.

I've got SIDI Blackrain boots and they're excellent.
Completely waterproof and nice and slim around the toe, which I find helps with gear changes.
Watch the sizing though...they tend to be quite tight and you may need the next size up.
This is bang on - I'm a size 9 and my size 9 boots are only comfortably wearable with thin socks. If you want to wear thicker socks then go a half (or more) size up - best to go to a shop with the socks you plan to wear. There's no give in them to compensate either.Completely waterproof and nice and slim around the toe, which I find helps with gear changes.

PS. Cheeky plug - my size 9 black rains in good nick are on ebay now at 99p, email me for the auction number if you can't find it (my ebay id is dernian)

.I ride with my altbergs all year round and wear one thin pair of socks and one thick pair. Always dry, warm and comfortable. The only problem with them is that they pretty much only sell them from their factory in yorkshire. They do do some shows though and they have been doing some fitting days at some walking boot shops. If you can get measured then they'll custom make them to your size. Otherwise you'll have to order in a standard size (I did this and went half a size up on their recommendation and it's bob on) and you can always send them back if they don't fit and you've not worn them outside. You also have to wait for them to make them for you too. It really is worth it though. They'll last forever and they'll resole them for you if the sole ever wears out. Proper hand made british boots as used by many police forces - can't go wrong.
I only wear Daytona Boots. I have three pair of Daytonas and I can highly recommend the Daytona Evo Sports GTX with Goretex, and I've boot them all from Germany, where the € price is less than the STG price. I bought mine from here http://shop.strato.de/epages/10207048.sf/en_GB/?Ob... the UK supplied ones can be found here http://www.hideout-leather.co.uk/folders/road_race...
Compare the prices and believe me the boots from Germany arrived in 5 days.

I've got some Daytona Roadstar GTX boots. Fully waterproof, super comfortable. Pricey mind.

Also got some Alinestars which I wore for a week on the Euro trip in August. Again, fully waterporoof but not quite so comfortable. A bit cheaper too.
