I mean.....I buy a nice new bike...DONT drop it for the first time my life, and then what do I do......leave the feckin disc lock on this morning. The sound of cracking, spliting, tearing of plastic is now haunting me....b*ll*x.
Don't feel too bad, we've all done it. The most important thing is did you do it front of an audience? I always find that it doubles the embarrassment quotient. For your info I use one of those high vis coiled wires that you loop round your grip/brake lever as a reminder. I got it after my third disc lock moment!!!

Damage hopefully will be limited to the front guard, but KIWIUK will take a look at the disc for me.
If there's no pulsing through the lever when you apply the brakes, you should be OK. If the disc is bent/warped, you'll feel it. Just have a look to make sure there aren't any cracks where the lock pin was through the disc.Bad luck mate, but it's not just you. I have an equally long list, fresh tarmac, warm day, side-stand. I did the disc-lock thing outside Windsor Castle (but wasn't larging it so not too many people noticed).
This morning of instance, I fire up the old BBird & notice steam?? coming from under the front brake lever (is was a bit damp see). Er, that's not steam.
Off with the electrics, poke the connection which fell to a hundred pieces. Brake light
connection. Made it safe, tried to fire her up. Nowt. Then the alarm arms itself. Here we go.
By now, the collection of kids opposie my house waiting for their lift to school begin to offer some non-helpful advice, rubber band-winding, better hair-gel (helmet hair is a right pain) & the like
Finally got it going with a massive bang from all the mixture pumped into the chamber. That got their attention
Anyway, hope the damage isn't too bad on yours, but at least it's out of the way now eh
