If this is a repost i really, really don't care because this bike deserves one!
I like the 1098, but am not really that bothered about them because they are unattainable for me and i don't need that kind of performance.
However, when i saw the 848 I had a little accident.
Wow... just wow!
I feel like a woman who's biological clock has just reached its penultimate tick. I NEED one of these....
My Mrs spent £12k on a renault clio... so i think i might be able to justify this one

Put my deposit down a few days ago. Should be here before Christmas!!
Couldn't decide between White or Red, but had to go white really!!
The only thing that bothers me is that apparently it doesn't have a steering damper, or even the mounts to retro-fit one?! .. the 1098 does
Strange but true, I was going to put a thread up too see if anyone was buying one, the 848 has really caught my eye.

Put your photos up asap. Can't wait for the road testers to voice their opinion on it!

You may find that it doesn't actually need one, my 916 has an Ohlins damper but I don't think it really needs it as it is super-stable.
If you need one you could fit the top yoke from a 1098 (which looks remarkably like the one from a 916) which has the mount, then you'd only need to fit it to the frame for which you could fabricate (or buy) a clamp or just weld a mount on?
Does seem a bit 'mean' though.

Neither can I!! Never put a deposit down before at least hearing one review first
The dealers are getting their demo bikes in in around 2 weeks.... so I need someone to go in and do a test ride and post it up here (I am working in the Maldives at the moment and not back until the 10th Dec - about when my bike is due!).YamR1V64motion said:
im wondering how its realisticly going to stack up against the latest 600s, it has a little more power but is a noticable bit heavier, i dont think there will be a great deal in it really, lovely bike though.
If performance were my only concern I would get a GSXR750 (cheaper too!!). I love the sound on the twins though, which is the same reason I bought Scoobies over Evos.As you say there is not a lot in it. To give a rough comparison, arguably the best 600 this year is the CBR which weighs in at 155kg (dry) and 125bhp with the 848 weighing in at 168kg (dry) and 134bhp. That gives relative power/weight ratios of 806 and 797 bhp/tonne respectively... I know which one would make me smile more though!!
