I need to oil the clutch cable on my blade. Previously I've cable tied a bag of oil to one end and let gravity take it's course but it takes ages and makes a mess. I've seen the universal clamp type and the bigger hydraulic types on ebay... how do they work, what oil do I use with them and is it worth paying more for the hydraulic one?

Thanks,

Mark

I have a clamp one. You clamp it to the end of the cable sleeve which seals that end, then squirt oil into a small hole in the clamp. This then fills the sleeve until it comes out the other end.

Simple and effective smile

I've never used the other type

Any that's sitting around smile

Don't use WD40 though because I've been told it can rot the plastic sheathing inside the cable wink

Careful how much oil you put in, I oiled the throttle cable on my kid's bike this way and shortly after it wouldn't run - the oil had run down the cable, through the top of the carb and deposited itself in the jets blocking fuel flow........

Hydraulic cable oiler for the win!

Has washers inside that grip on to the outer cable and provide a seal, then fill the device with oil and turn the handle to pump oil down the cable.
