yamaha yz 250 f 2002 info

hi i have just rebuild the motor from a box of bits, as it had blown its self to bits before i brought it. any way i can t get it to start it seems to advacnced and the only bits missing where the spring and planger from the selecter barrel which make contact with neutral switch,is this needed to retard it to help with starting. p.s. did get a new cdi box do they have be matched to the pick up as have had that prob with kl250 years ago .
