First bike show I ever went to was at the Ally Pally about 3 years ago - had a great time - but one of the funniest things I saw as I arrived by train - was all the gayers changing into their leathers in their cars before going into the show. People with one piece leathers, with humps on, changing from jeans and T-shirts into their gear to go in a bike show. How me and my mates laughed.

Then went to the NEC show two years ago and watched the same thing happening - again laughed at the gayness of these motorbike wannabees showing off their leathers, but having driven in a car.

So - I am off to NEC on Sunday - and need some new boots. Need to make sure that they will fit over my leathers. I don't want to carry my leathers round all day - so therefore I am concerned by my gayness!

I just can't think of any other option.

Er... Just ride the bike to the show and then you will be wearing leathers!?

Failing that, quite a lot of the stalls sell boots and leathers. Try on leathers and boots and just buy boots!

Problem solved and no gayness! There is never (ever) an excuse for wearing leathers other than when on the bike.

Last race meeting i took the bike and mate took the car, spent 30 mins trying to find my mate to stick the bike grea into the car and get changed.

To be honest the only redeming feature about taking the bike was it took me half the amount of time to get home.

Probably never do it again, just go in the car (and not take leathers)

For the record anyone who drives to a meeting and puts leathers on just to look like a biker is a w@nker and should never be allowed to sit on a bike. Gay does not do them justice.

yes

Brands WSB every year: pack shorts, t-shirt and trainers, leave the full leathers on the bike. Too easy.

Poeple who actually change into them when they drive up!? They need putting down.

I went to the NEC on Thu. Fully suited & booted in my shiniest Grenson shoes. Changed in the car park into jeans, t-shirt & trainers so I did not stand out. Am I reverse gay ?

When I do the London to Brighton run I leave my leathers and lid behind a bar and change into my jeans, trainers and a t-shirt!
Can't stand having them on when I walk around.

Cut the end of your sleeves off and take them to the show in a pink bag so that you fit in with the gay bikers but don't offend the real bikers! laugh

I got lucky today!

After sitting for an hour in the car after leaving the M6 trying to get into the car park of the NEC, I finally managed to get into the show.

Went in and took a (slow) walk around the show, it was packed.... I have never seen so many people at any exhibition show. I very nearly gave up and left after about an hour having not bought anything. Got a drink and something to eat and then made my way back in after deciding with the Mrs what to buy and not to buy.

We decided to not get an intercom system. Although did see a very interesting bluetooth system that had me more tempted than the Autocom/Starcom wired systems. Will do my homework and then think about getting these at the ExeL show next year. http://www.interphoneuk.com/

Also decided that 2 new cars are higher up the priority list than a new KTM RC8 (but what a bike to sit on and look at - I reallllly want one - will wait for the reviews next year and then look for one in 2009 I think. For me the best bike there by far) - we decided on our list.

As I was dressed in my jeans and T-shirt and had left my leathers in the boot, about a 2 mile walk away from the show, and therefore not being a gayer (I saw only 1 person doing this today by the way!), I decided that I would not buy any boots today.

So the list was as follows:-

Exhaust for the bandit - bought a Fuel exhaust, just to make it a bit louder for the London traffic
Winter gloves for the Mrs - picked some Alpinestars up from a ladies own stall.
Winter gloves for Me - Didn't find anything
New DB Screen for the bandit - went for a powerbronze one as they had 1 left in stock and let me have for £30
Moulded Ear Plugs for me and the Mrs - Found some Fella that did them to take away on the day.

Whilst I was sitting getting my ears moulded I could only hear 1 person - the really loud guy who was deperately trying to get rid of his stock. As soon as the mould went in all I could hear was Alpinestars SMX boots for £50, and any Oxtars for £50.

Problem was, I was stuck with something in my ear moulding it for the next 15 mins - hearing him constantly saying the same message. As soon as I was finished - I left the Mrs there and ran to the stall with the Alpinestars. It was like when the Ikea opened in London, people fighting over the fina pairs left.

I decided to give up, but stuck my head down the next aisle and saw a pair of Alpinestars GP Tech Series on the shelf, in my size, for £150. Tried my luck and offered him £50 for the boots. He said yes! I never even tried them on - but have got home and tried them on and they fit perfectly with my leathers. A lucky punt has worked out well.

Only problem is that they had no toe sliders with them, so I need to get some. Found some on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alpinestars-Toe-Sliders-Red_... - any one know if they will fit these boots?

Sorry to hijack but this is doesn't happen to bikers either.
