Hi all,

My brother is about to go and have a ride on a GS Adventure at BMW in Guildford; now neither of us has any experience of buying bikes, should he expect to be able to negotiate a discount? If so how much?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mat

All dealers can negotiate. Not all will though. If I couldn't haggle when spending that much money though, I'd take my custom elsewhere so be sure to let them know that (after the test ride) and you should get a deal of some sort wink

He might get a deal if it is a 2007 Adventure if he's after. If its a 2008 model, no chance at all, although you may get 10% or so off accessories (luggage, clothing, etc).

when I last bought a new BMW it was hard to get a discount, i ended up doing a bit of phoning around and bought from Pidcocks near nottingham who were very willing to 'talk a deal'....

What sort of discount did you get? Guildford were keen to sell my brother their demo, but I think for £1k more he would be better off with a new one. I told him to call around and get a deal on an unregistered 07 model, as he's not bothered about waiting for an 08 model.

from memory i got about £600 off and the luggage at 'cost', doesnt sound like a huge amount but it was the Ltd edition Boxercup Replica and no-one else was interested in giving a penny off. I found the same situation as you though in that a 1 yr old (prev model) boxercup was around £8800 and the new one i got for £9200 so it didnt seem worth getting a used one...

Bought both an R1200GS and a K1200GT-SE at different times.

Didn't get anything off the bikes but some discount on other accessories.

It's name is Bahnstormer, and yes they are a decent enough bunch. I got my RT from there and was very happy with the deal I got. They always seem to have a good bunch of bikes there.
