picked up the bike today
Discussion
Hello All
You will have seen I passed yesterday and bought a Speed 4
Well, against my better judgement, I picked it up tonight and rode it back in the fog. 1st time out on my own and wow , what an experience. I did my DAS on a ER5 and my god, the triumph is all together a different beast. I only got it up to 7000 rpm before I chickened out. To be honest, tonight was not the ideal night to be out messing about on my 1st bike - very cold and very damp. But nevertheless, it gave me a taste of the fun that I will have when it gets sunny and dry!
Acceleration is amazing and the noise is great. Any tips for getting around roundabouts without looking like a dick!? Definitely don't have the confidence yet in tight turns.....great fun though. Bike got filthy and I was outside at 10pm cleaning it! My pride and joy.......
As you can imagine, the girlfriend was less than impressed!!
Anyway, I'm so glad I've joine you guys - I have a Porsche which I love but this is going to be a completely different experience. Love it!
Cheers
Simon

Good for you mate bikes do make cars feel boring its a whole different experience, as for the roundabouts just try to look at where you want to go and not at what you want to avoid.....i.e don't look at that kerb or pot hole look for the junction or around the corner!
Enjoy it mate remember to keep the salt off by washing it down and then coating her in WD40....

tip for roundabouts - look like a dick. its slippy as hell in places id rather be a dick on a bike than a hero on the floor.
wait till it warms up & the roads dry without being covered in gravel/grit before trying to lean it much.
was out on mine the other night & it wheelspun in 4th at 40mph, damn sure it wasnt that slippy but it mist have been.

Congratulations on passing your test and getting a new bike.
Do take it easy as the roads a very slippery at the moment.
The trick for roundabouts (and bends in general) is to make sure you are looking where you want to go, not looking at the tarmac 10ft in front of you.
