Reading the Aberdeen biker forum, there seems to be a huge amount of bike theft in my area!

So what's is the best way to keep it safe?
He's garaged, but its a bit rubbish, mainly to keep dry,
Alarmed & immobilised.

Have 2 massive chain & padlocks from a nice man at the Honda garage

My dad had his bike nicked out of their garage in Yorks, they pushed the motor home off the drive, drilled out the lock in the garage door and away with the bike, no-one heard a peep and the door into the house was unlocked! Gave them a real fright, everything is now bolted down including the motor home to the drive!

get a Ground anchor and big chain for it

Make sure it is a good ground anchor that needs to be set in the concrete.

When chaining it up pass the chain through the ground anchor and part of the frame and wheel on bike.

Make sure the chain does not rest on the ground as scum can use hammer on the lock against the ground then.

Tim.

keep it in a kennel with a couple of HUGE dogs?
other than that if they really want it, it'll go i guess. most of the mags do articles on bike security in the autumn (seems to be anyway) could be worth ordering a few back issues if you can find out the ones you need.
im lucky im in an ok area & my old bike lived on the drive without hassles. new one is in the garage as i made more space.

Dont forget PHers get a discount on Almax kit, and a chain, groundanchor and tailpack are quite good value for money. Am sure the landlord wouldnt mind overly much. Add one of those barlock things for the garage door, and hope against hope the scrotes dont decide they want it, or twill be gone.

Might be worth thinking about some fiddling with cheap panic attack alarms, just to make sure it goes noisy when they come in through the windows etc etc.

Thanks for the suggestions, if I move into the downstairs bedroom I might be able to smuggle him in biggrin

Otherwise I'll be having a ground anchor, I'm sure landlady wont notice hehe

tbh if you asked her i cant see many landlords saying no. if anything its to their advantage once they need to re-let.

She is actually a good lady, I'll have a chat with her on Weds, ply her with wine too. I've got to make up for knocking down a curtain rail and poking a hole in the ceiling when water came through hehe

Maybe you could if you talked to the owners...
