So... thinking about doing the TT - realistically in 2009. But how does it work? I'll be going on a bike, so I'm assuming it'll be a crossing from Liverpool. But what then? Do people camp or Bed and breakfast, buy grandstand tickets or spectate elsewhere on the circuit, get smashed/stay sober etc.

Is there an idiots guide out there somewhere?

Cheers
Mike

You'll find that everything you mentioned above happens, it's just down to individual preference. I drive over (no bike) and stay in a hotel on the seafront with my dad for practice week. He then flies home and I move to a homestay with my mates for race week. I've never watched practice or racing from the same place and I've been going 5 years now. Watch one race from the grandstand, that'll do, the rest get out on the circuit.

Have a look at iomtt.com, there's always plenty of info on there.

And whats wrong with 2008, why wait?

I've seen that flat-head Harley at Ashby Foleville.

IOM TT, the best motorcycling holiday you can get.

Great pictures y2blade. I was planning to go to the TT this year but fear I may have left it too late frown. Never been before but fancied it this year. Will have a look at the IOMTT website as I've no idea where to start (or stay!).
"Homestay" was mentioned - what is this? paperbag

stay in douglas if you can (best to be close to the nightlife and promanad entertainment)...you should be ok if you get on and book over the next couple of weeks

homestay is basicly B+B but in someones house (all inspected and official) very nice houses too...alot nicer than some of the B+B's you see alnog the promanade

the one we are staying in this year has a double garage we can use plus double room ensuite and our "own" lounge with BIG LCD and SKY+

i cant wait

1 - You have to get there. Choice of fly over and hire a car, get the ferry and take the car. I take a car, more fun, get on the Steam Packet website.
2 - Decide when to go - practice week or race week or both. I've got 10 nights before getting back and heading for Le Mans.
3 - Hotels aren't too pricey but probably won't have parking. Homestay is simply renting someones house, either they're there and you have a room or you get the house. Always camping available but if you're doing Le Mans get yourself a bed.
