I'm looking for some inspiration. I currently ride an '03 600cc Fazer and am looking for a change.

I commute into work daily, about 6 miles each way in heavy traffic, but also want a bike I can go for a blast on at the weekends and maybe the odd trip to Europe.

I don't think I want a naked bike and maybe something with a bit more power.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks, I hadn't even thought of one of those, I'm going to go and have a look in the local dealers.

Does anyone on here own one? Any views?

I was also thinking I've never owned a sports bike so I may take the plunge, the ride to work will be interesting and then there are the weekends!

6 miles every day in heavy traffic and a CB1300 does not make for a good mix IMHO..they weigh a ton

From what you have said there I would lean towards a Fazer thou, great for the commute, wide bars, managable, slim and reliable with awesome motors and good handling ,that would take you (and a pillion if required) in comfort any where over small or large distances.

Again, if you was comfy enough on a sports bike, and a fair few are, any of the 600 range would do the job brilliantly

All depends on your budget and what size/sort of engine your looking for.

This time of year is great for heading to the dealers and grabbing a few demos.

37 miles each way, some in heavy traffic, on a CB1300 and no problem apart from having to wait behind R1 riders who can't filter.

Yes it's heavy but only if you need to pick it up if you fall over.

Fazer1000, CBF1000, TDM900 all come to mind as good commuters with some weather protection but still capable of 'playing' at weekends or comfortably doing the south of france in a couple of days.

This time of year I'd try and get lots of test rides and see what fits you best.

That's what I'm thinking, the weather is perfect and probably the right time for a good deal.

maybe even a 05/06 plate transalp, with the new model just relesed prices have gone down to really good levels and they are very very good mileage munchers, they handle surprisingly well, cheap to run and insure as well.....
