layers. lots of layers in this weather. smile

Back protector if you're not carrying a rucksack with a bloody big laptop in it.

And definitely a windproof neck thingy. In the UK, riding without is nice about twice a year. Rest of the year is OK with a loose cotton job, but right now the windproof one is a lifesaver.

One utterly superb thing about my HG textile jacket is that you get (and this is difficult to describe) an extra zip on collar. Without it it's fine for most of the year but when you zip it on (and it zips on in a kind of odd way) it sort of wraps around your neck keeping your neck wind free and (more importantly imo) dry. It really is a work of genius. Without it I'd use a neckwarmer but they can get a bit damp after a while.

My essential bit of kit would be my foggy respro mask - lost without it.

I have to use a Foggy in my Nolan N94 but not in my Arai RX7C. Weird.

Waterproofs.

Even a cheap pair is better than soggy leathers, and they're great for keeping out the wind when it's cold but dry.
Keep them under the seat in a polly bag, stop and put them on as soon as it starts to rain (it's only a shower, it'll stop soon... or not).
Use the polly bag over your boots to slide your feet down the legs and you won't catch on anything and rip them.

And condoms; just in case...

Just tried that... the ribbed ones itch like fukc and left my legs smelling of chocolate. But they're the best ones I could buy...

Good jacket, trousers, gloves, boots and lid are top of my list as without them you can lose limbs. Then Pinlock or Fog City, closely followed by waterproofs that actually are.

My favourite accessory has to be heated grips which I finally bought this winter after 20+ years of freezing rolleyes

The good lady has just bought me a TomTom Rider but can't have it until my birthday in a couple of weeks, but suspect that'll top my fave accessories list smile Far from essential though

Original factory workshop manual - no Haynes rubbish. (its the only part you'll ever buy for your bike that is VAT free!)

......if it's for winter then Gore Tex! (in boots, gloves, jacket, trousers etc.) It works, and it keeps working.
