this don't sound right, opinions?

On classifieds, '05 R1 4.5k miles £4300. Pictures show Termi' cans also. I'm thinking of getting back into bikes and this caught my eye but doesn't look right for some reason. Has anyone an opinion on it? Don't want to get burnt, especially as I've just found out my visa card has been cloned and some phucka in South Africa has been drawing cash on it!

Macdeb,
Easy solution - if it doesn't look right to you, walk away. It might be a peach of a bike that someone is trying to get rid of quickly for a perfectly valid reason, but if you're not comfortable for any reason, don't do it.
If you're really interested, go and have a look but do so on the assumption that the seller is trying to rip you off in some way. Ask where the original cans are, ask to see the receipt for the replacements, where is the service history etc etc. If he can come up with all the paperwork (and I would ask for and expect all expired tax discs)and there is no evidence of it being tracked (drilled or shiney new drain bolt etc etc) then perhaps its OK.

Once went to see a CBR600. Advertised at a really low price, sounded good.
"Owner" was late fifties, walked with a stick and had "only bought it for a bit of fun."
Five year old bike, only 6000 miles on the clock, V5 but no service history.
Plastics, seat and can were imaculate, everything else was knacked; swingarm gravelled, fork adjusters boloxed, rims chipped and dented, rounded nuts everywhere.
Nice big front tyre shaped dent in the bottom of the radiator too...
Asked the guy how long his son had been racing and he expressed genuine surprise that I knew him. Then came the knowing look...
Buyer beware!
