Having read through a lot of reviews (MCN in particular) and looked around the 125s available, my eye has somewhat stuck on the GPR125 based on looks, insurance and handling.

I was just wondering what the general concensus is on Derbi, as I'd never heard of the brand beforehand...

Its Spanish IIRC

I suggest you find a dealer and mystery shop them.

Phone they up and ask for the price and availability for a fairing part or similar.

I would recomment Japanese, but each to his own....

On the other hand save your money.

Do a three day course with a bike school, pass your test on their CG125 and spend the rest of your cash on a proper bike.

Spot on. Get past the 125 step quickly with direct access. 125s are not worth the bother in your position Rob.

Thanks again guys, having done and passed the CBT today bounce I'm settling on a plan between the two, work commitments just don't give me the chance to do the DAS for a few months, and I want to keep my practice in, so looking for a dog-eared and cheap 125 to get some practice on in the meantime (any ideas on a good place to find something...), hopefully using some odd days for additional training and perhaps the BikeSafe course.

Then DAS and a bigger bike here I come biggrin

Am hooked by the way, really enjoyed the day despite being just over twice as old as my comrades, was quite chuffed that despite being the only person on manual I managed to do the best.

You can't go far wrong with a Honda CG125 or Yamaha SR or DTR

Solid as a rock, lots of training schools use them and you will be able to sell it on easy after.
