It's just the buzz, shirley? I look back at some of the speeds I've done, and think "you pratt". However, I'll be doing it again the next time I go out....it's 99% of biking for me, and I can't afford a £500k car!!

I just tend to go as fast as I feel I need to. I don't make a conscious and concerted effort to speed, I'll just go as quick as I'm comfortable with, which 99% of the time is above the national speed limit.

I never, ever speed in posted speed limits but where I see a national speed limits apply sign, it's fair game. If I get caught speeding, it'll be my fault for not paying attention and looking out for that gatso or plod car.

It's the undercover cars that are the b1tches!! Admitedly there's not many of them about but if you speed all the time it's pretty much enevitable that you'll get caught eventually.

There are too few of them, you need to be very unlucky to see one. It's rare enough to see a marked car and there are thousands of those.

I dunno, there's usually a couple of unmarked cars on the B645 during a sunny sunday afternoon. They're quite easy to spot, though.

Because i do it for the thrill, for the feeling that i could die by ing it all up, for the feel of the wind pushing you back, the sensation of power.

All in all, i do it for the chase.

Indeed, I second this motion!! Never in the Posted places, it's just asking for trouble.

I like to make quick, safe progress. Often this can be done a speeds higher than the national limit.

For the feeling.

When speeding, I'm however always very concious of the consequences, which only adds to the feelings.

I also speed for the challenge. There is absolutely no enjoyment for me in speeding down the motorway at 3x the speed limits, going 30+ mph over the national speed limits on a country road is much more fun and challenging

As a biker, I ride at the speed that is right for the conditions. The government does not have all the facts about every single road, at every single moment, so who are they to say what speed is right for me to do?
Never been caught above the limit because I keep my eyes open, if I don't see a bright yellow speed camera, how the hell can I be expected to see a black car?
If you get caught speeding you should be done for 'care and attention' at the same time wink

It's odd.

On the ZX7R I would stick to the posted limits perfectly until I got the a national and then it would be as fast as the road allowed (We're talking way above 100 leptons) It was like a Karma thing to me.. Because I was being good in the towns, I could be bad in the country.

With the DRZ it's a different matter.
I find it much much harder to be behaved through the towns. It's like my brain says "Well Son, you're only doing 85 in the n/s/l so I'm not going to let you ride at 30... unless it's on the back wheel"

I'd like a psychologist to explain that one....

Like some have said, I am also considerate and will always drive at the posted limit in towns, villages, to the point I have been overtaken doing 30 in a 30 zone.... rolleyes, but will ride in the NSL at a speed appropriate for the conditions and my experience. Which being very little is quite slow, frown

The thing that always amazes me is how easy it is to find yourself at a speed higher than that "officially" allowed. To that end I think it is not always a conscious decision to speed, rather a desensitisation to speed through exposure to easily accessible performance. smile

As many have said, stick to the speed limits in buit up areas, also gives you chance to do a bit of "bird" watchin....wink

As for the national limits, not fussed about acheiving uber Leptons. yes it produces a grin at those numbers, but find it more satisfing to be cranked over in the twistes...
