I have got a Fireblade (50th Anniversary Edition, mint etc etc) and have decided that it's time a for a change. I want something that will go a little further before it needs more gas and that won't give me sore wrists or a bad back but is still a little fun.

I have heard that the Busa has a little more character but the Blackbird is exceptional. Both are quick and obviously different from the blade for all the obvious reasons. I'd be using it for occasional commuting, weekend blasts and two tours a year.

Ultimately, it's down to preference but I'd appreciate any views as to merits of either?

I have not owned either but ridden both, the Blackbird is a great bike, very comfy, very quick, very smooth and very well made, did a 3 hour stretch on it no problems, It felt as if you could ride for a lot longer in comfort.

The Hayabusa? well what can you say, the engine dominates the bike, I couldn´t tell you much about the rest of the bike, I got on one for an hour straight off my Exup which I thought was quick, the ´Busa was like being strapped to a cruise missile.

Expect tyres to last a little longer on the BB although they are both heavy powerful bikes, I guess in the real world the difference in performance is irrelevant really.

Tried both the Busa and Blackbird when I was looking to upgrade to a larger sports/tourer, if such a bike exists. The busa seemed strangely large, with me sort of pressed onto the tank (Im 5ft 10 average build) which made the bike for me rather intimidating , specially going up from a Thundercat
The Black bird however was much easier to get on with, still a monster compared with the cat, but Hondas are built with the smaller guy in mind . Ive had a couple of Suzukis over the years and build quality is not the strong point so the Blacky scores again. Before deciding I wanted to see / sit on / try out a ZZR1400 which at the time (18 months ago) was all the news. When the local Kwaka dealer got one in I decided by just a "sit on" that I needed one badly, and gave the deposit there and then. Waited a few months to get a blue one, but well worth the wait. Ultimate bike, more refined than either Busa or Bird Soopa comfy on distance no arse or wrist ache. Slightly lighter than Busa or Bird Can be ridden like a girly if you wish ( I generally do!) with the secondary throttles closed off, but give it some beans and Jasus, its like a friggin rocket>>>>>> > In fairness they are all good bikes, its just what floats yer boat!
