I just treated myself to a 2002 GSX1400 for £2K. Does that seem like a good deal? It has a full tax and ticket. 18K miles, 3 owners.
This bike seems really quick even though i know its not compared to some of the stuff out there.
But on the public road how fast can you go without losing your licence or your life or killing someone else?

If you have to ask that you shouldn't be riding a 1400cc bike.......This bike seems really quick even though i know its not compared to some of the stuff out there.

The Suzuki 1400 is like a grunty Bandit 1200. I had 2 of those Suzukis.
I accept what you say about speed, few of us consistently exceed what a 400cc sports bike can do on the road. I had a Honda RVF400 which was quick enough for the street.
But the big bikes do offer that something extra, somehow.

Economically, the best idea will be to keep the bike as it is, until you are ready to sell. Keep it standard. You should fetch more than you paid, actually!
Then, take a look at a Ducati 998R if you want that shape, or the 999S if you want the later style.
Cynics will tell you that the 999/749 shape was rubbish. But it had many plusses over the more beautiful 916 to 998 shape.
Whichever, have fun!

lovely bikes, ive got a B&W 2001.
they sure do go off the clock
if you want a bit more power the best route is a full akro system & a power commander, meant to be good for about 15% above standard. ive got both on mine. cant say what they added though as its how i got it.
get yourself over to www.gsx1400.org for lots of technical info etc

I`m sure TTS got some very impressive bhp figures from tuning the big 1400`s...
Peak power on the stock bike is around 100bhp at 6,500rpm. Fitting the TTS designed and developed camshafts, together with their new Techlusion Fuel Injection Controller and a full Akrapovic exhaust system they have achieved a power figure of 135bhp at 7,800rpm. This equates to a power increase of 35% over stock.
Torque is also up from 90ft-lbs at 5,000rpm to 105ft-lbs at 6,000rpm
