Ken Livingstone could be causing injuries and deaths by suppressing findings which could dramatically cut road casualties, Tory MPs are set to tell Parliament.

They say Ken Livingstone is to blame for failing to cut casualties because he has hidden research on the effects of letting motorcycles use bus lanes.

A leaked report on a three-year pilot states collisions fell by 42% on routes where motorcycles were allowed to share the lanes. The report is dated September 2007 but a date has yet to be set for the findings to be officially released.

Robert Goodwill, shadow minister for motorcycles, said: “Ken is directly responsible for not being able to reduce accidents by 42% and people will have been seriously injured and possibly killed in the meantime.”

Full article

Apparently LivingScum is sitting on the report because cyclists are against sharing bus-lanes with motorcycles, and with the coming Mayoral elections, will loose the scrote some votes.rage

This has been raised elsewhere but the guy is a and no mistake. We can already use bus lanes here in Bristol and its brilliant, why they are "burying" this is absolutely beyond me.

s, the lot of them.

It is, as you rightly said, because KL is a cvnt.

Might it also have something to do with wanting to bring in a 'congestion' charge for bikes I wonder?

Whatever the reason you can be sure that it is not in anyone's best interests (except the various livingstonian organisations that stand to profit from it). hurl

I can't see the sharing of bus-lanes making a jot of difference regards congestionpollution charging, as charging could go ahead regardless of sharing or not.
The reason for sitting on the report has to be cyclists (pedal powered) do not want to share with motorcycle riders.
I think it's safe to say, that if LivingScum gives the go-ahead to the sharing of bus-lanes before the Mayoral elections in May, then he will loose votes from said cyclists.

He is making gas-guzzlers pay £25 a day though!
That'll make some space!

In a vertical direction maybe, but the actual footprint of most vehicles in CO2 band G is much the same as any other car. Also, you might find a greater number of lower emission cars on the roads in London as a result of Livingstone's communist vindictiveness.

I was thinking about this, this morning on my ride in.

Every biker that I see on my journey in uses the bus lanes already (whether allowed to or not) - some are blatant (like me!) and ride down the middle of the lane, some hug the white line, and some swerve in and out of lanes to avoid traffic. However they all use it

So if I was a pedal pusher in London with the vote for Mayor - I wouldn't care if motorbikes could use bus lanes or not - as they are going to do it anyway.

The fact Red Ken is "holding" information looks bad on him - regardless of what it is he is holding - surely he will alienate more voters doing this.

They somehow captured by "rally" plate, covered in layers of dust, mud and chain lube.

Ken's just being an arse again. Remember those of us who live in London have a proper chance to get rid of him in May!! I emailed boris about the bus lane thing as totally expected from a pro cyclist I've yet to receive a reply!
I too use bus lanes/thick white lines everyday otherwise I'd just sit in traffic.. I just know where the cctv cameras are and in which direction they face. F*ck it I'll use whatever space is available to help me make safe progress. I can't believe we get such a sh*t deal in London when we're helping solve both congestion and we don't pollute anywhere close to certain other vehicles.

I mean WTF is he doing letting cars in the lowest polluting group travel free in the zone as of Oct, they take up just as much space as a band G? Also boils my p*ss that there are some cars with lower road tax than my bike!!

i had to go into london today & noticed that.
what was i risking riding in the bus lanes with every other bike on the road then?

He's pulled that too, now. A big p1ss-off to all the chumps who went out and bought Citroen C1s, etc......
