Hi all had my first DAS lesson on friday and loved it

first time i have been on anything bigger than a 125

got a CB500 daunghting at first then during the lesson realised how underpowered this is

first lesson went well with a guy called mark from southern riders

riding around lancing and worthing areas

throughly loved it

despite the old bag that carved me up on a mini roundabout which i had covered without having to stop.

only real problem on a bike is it is a lot harder to give someone the finger and when you swear at them they hear you

still is it normal to be told on the first lesson that the speed limit is x and it is a limit not a target nono

Not a tough crowd, just one that sawsunshine, and went for a ride smile

Nice first lesson biggrin

Things to take away from it...
Its worth keeping the clear visor and learning the slow headshake and hard Paddington stare that works so much better than a sweary session. When they realise what they've done, you can quite often see them actually cringe.
You'll be expected to reach the limit that much faster than you remember from your driving lessons, but its still a test - you have the restof your biking life to be Speedy Gonzales, so use the analogue features of the throttle.
Remember you have a big back of luck and a little bag of experience right now,and try to fill one up without emptying the entire luck bag all in one go wink

Don't worry, I think that's normal, got told by my instructors that you should be able to take a test with a couple of days left - if you are only ready by the time you take your test, it's running it too close.

That’s interesting - on my DAS I was told the opposite! My instructor always advised me not to hang about and get up to the limit otherwise I would end up a mobile chicane. As the limits changed he always wanted me to swiftly alter my speed accordingly. I was cautious at first but he maintained it was safer.

i was told to do both tbh - dont speed but equally dont ponce about taking hours to get to the limit.

Same here, when the limit changes, do a lifesaver then adjust your speed...

Enjoy your riding and imagine anyone can do anything at any time, and it hurts more on a bike!
