M&P have a sale on right now, I have a couple of sets of thermal windproof cold killers stuff, very good, wear under vented leathers too as they are windproof.

Summer baselayers - EDZ is brilliant, never go out without them.

I bought some stuff from an online ski wear shop a couple of years ago - no idea who they were but it was inexpensive and has done the job without being too bulky.

I thought the same until I was pursuaded to try EDZ, extra layer in winter and in summer wickes moisture away from the skin and really does help to keep you cool.

Helly Hansen gear is good and could be bought cheap from the retail village in Bicester.

I have some Icebreaker stuff which is merino wool. Very thin and warm and doesn't smell after a few days use. Not cheap, though.

No, definitely not. Look up wicking on google.

Good:

Nike Compression-fit Base Layers
Helly Hensen Lifa
Canterbury
Under Armour

Bad:

EDZ rip really easily under leathers

Merino is great - and Icebreaker is some of the best Merino you can get. Unlike my other stuff it can be thrown in the wash at 40 degrees without shrinking to small child's size!

If you know anyone heading to NZ it's way cheaper there. I'll be stocking up when I go later this year.
